The Roman Road to Salvation
I had a friend who was thinking about becoming a missionary with Wycliffe Bible Translators. To prepare for this he went through Summer Institute in Linguistics (SIL). On the application for this program he was asked to explain how he would share the gospel with someone who had no knowledge of the Bible, or of our Lord Jesus. And he had to do it in 3 minutes!
Romans 3:9-18:
Dr. Francis Schaeffer was asked once how he would share the gospel with someone if he had one hour to do it in. Dr. Schaeffer said that he would spend the first 45 minutes talking about sin and guilt and judgment, and the last 15 minutes telling them about Jesus, the cross, and how they could be saved.
I want to give my version of The Roman Road to Salvation, using only the Bible, and combining the two ideas above:

Here is an excerpt from Patrick Buchanan's excellent book: The Great Betrayal: How American Sovereignty and Social Justice Are Being Sacrificed to the Gods of the Global Economy:

I realize our congressmen and congresswomen are busy. So many things to do. And with the 'fiscal cliff' just around the corner, you wonder if any of them are getting 3 hours of sleep a night. And yet, still, they find time to consider naming a day after Elvis Presley.

Are Christians Doing Enough to Help the Poor?
The Bible says:
"As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good to all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith." (Galatians 6:10).
Christians have a long history of striving to obey that command. I spent 9 years of my life working in healthcare (see My Ice Breaker). Hospitals and nursing homes today depend on private insurance and government funding, but it was not always so. I think if you look at the history of both hospitals and nursing homes you will find Christians behind most of them. The same is probably true with orphanages and homeless shelters.
Today, Christians continue to support hospitals, nursing homes, orphanages, homeless shelters on a voluntary basis. But they also support these through their taxes as well. So just how much more would our non-Christian neighbors want us to do for the poor?
And what poor should we give to? Should we give money to Americans on welfare who live a lifestyle far above that of many of the poorer countries in the world? See my post: America's Poor in Comparison to the Rest of the World). Go to some of the poorer villages in Africa and South America or India, and see how many of their poor have EBT (food stamp) cards, Televisions with 100+ cable channels, laptops and smart phones and cars and warm, dry places to stay, free education, and access to the level of medical care that even the poorest in this country have. And if they run out of money or their EBT card, there are food banks sprinkled all across this country - many of which are staffed and funded by Christian volunteers!
But I agree that Christians need to do more for the poor, What the poor in this country, and all across the world need most, is to hear the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. So, with that in mind, I'd like to ask you to share the following sermon with as many poor people as you can find:

I had a friend of mine years ago who was a journeyman butcher. He told me that you could buy raw pork from the grocery store, pour Coca Cola on it, and within an hour you would see the worms start to come out of the meat. I thought he was kidding me. Now I'm not so sure.
I love pork chops. I love ham and bacon. And I'm not sure that I want to know what critters are living (or dead!) inside the meat I eat. But maybe God knew this when he labeled Pigs as unclean and told the Jews not to eat them (See 24 Verses about Eating Pork)

Actor Jamie Foxx: "Give Honor to God and Our Lord and Savior, Barack Obama"

The Bible says there is nothing new under the sun. In Acts 12 we read of a similar case where one of King Herod Agrippa's followers praises him:
"And upon a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat upon his throne, and made an oration unto them. And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of a man. And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not god the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost."
Acts 12: 21-25
When this wicked actor, Jamie Foxx, called to 'Give honor to god and our lord and savior, Barack Obama,' as soon as Mr. Obama heard about it he should have immediately spoke up and said, "I am not God, or Lord or Savior. Only Jesus Christ lays claim to those titles."
But since he did not, and since, unlike King Herod in Acts 12, he was not immediately struck down dead by an angel, it makes me wonder if Obama really is the Man of Sin, the Son of Perdition, that the Apostle Paul talks about in II Thessalonians 2:3,4:
"Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped."
I don't know whether Mr. Obama is the Antichrist, but the fact that he allowed such blasphemous praise to be offered up to him tells me that "There is no fear of God before [his] eyes!" (Romans 3:18).
So what should be the response of a Christian when they hear of such blasphemy. I know what King David's response would be because he wrote about it in Psalms 139:19-22:
"Surely thou wilt slay the wicked, O God: depart from me, therefore, ye bloody men. For they speak against thee wickedly, and thine enemies take thy name in vain. Do I not hate them, O Lord, that hate thee? I hate them with perfect hatred: I count them mine enemies."
One of the more popular 'praise' songs in Christian circles is based on Psalm 118:
"This is the day, this is the day that the Lord hath made, that the Lord hath made,
We will rejoice, we will rejoice and be glad in it, and be glad in it."
Perhaps in light of this recent blasphemy by actor Jamie Foxx, Christians should put away their 'praise books,' and start singing more out of the Psalter Hymnal. They could begin with the hymn based on Psalm 139:
"The wicked thou wilt surely slay
from me let sinners turn away.
They speak against the name divine,
I count God's enemies as mine."
And yet, while there is life, there is hope, even for Jamie Foxx and Barack Obama. And so I would recommend they check out my post:

But since he did not, and since, unlike King Herod in Acts 12, he was not immediately struck down dead by an angel, it makes me wonder if Obama really is the Man of Sin, the Son of Perdition, that the Apostle Paul talks about in II Thessalonians 2:3,4:
"Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped."
I don't know whether Mr. Obama is the Antichrist, but the fact that he allowed such blasphemous praise to be offered up to him tells me that "There is no fear of God before [his] eyes!" (Romans 3:18).
So what should be the response of a Christian when they hear of such blasphemy. I know what King David's response would be because he wrote about it in Psalms 139:19-22:
"Surely thou wilt slay the wicked, O God: depart from me, therefore, ye bloody men. For they speak against thee wickedly, and thine enemies take thy name in vain. Do I not hate them, O Lord, that hate thee? I hate them with perfect hatred: I count them mine enemies."
One of the more popular 'praise' songs in Christian circles is based on Psalm 118:
"This is the day, this is the day that the Lord hath made, that the Lord hath made,
We will rejoice, we will rejoice and be glad in it, and be glad in it."
Perhaps in light of this recent blasphemy by actor Jamie Foxx, Christians should put away their 'praise books,' and start singing more out of the Psalter Hymnal. They could begin with the hymn based on Psalm 139:
"The wicked thou wilt surely slay
from me let sinners turn away.
They speak against the name divine,
I count God's enemies as mine."
And yet, while there is life, there is hope, even for Jamie Foxx and Barack Obama. And so I would recommend they check out my post:

Is the Bible Infallible?
Pastor Charles Spurgeon (1834 - 1892) says:
"It is not possible for fallible men to write infallible books. Somehow or other, we either say more than is true, or less than is true; the most skillful writer does not always keep along that hair line of truth, which is more difficult to tread than a razor's edge. But Scripture never errs. Here is the bullion gold without a single particle of alloy."
Pastor Spurgeon is right. The Bible is the inerrant infallible Word of God. I love the Authorized King James Bible, and I hold that version to be superior to any other translation, including the New King James Version (see my post: Another Look at the Authorized King James Bible). But I reject those who claim that this version, or any other version, of the Bible, is inerrant.
The Bible is inerrant in the original manuscripts, which no longer exist. For atheists and other God haters, this is stumbling block. But for those who love our Lord Jesus, and bow with humility before their King, this is just one more thing they accept by faith. We are saved by believing in Jesus Christ, not by believing in a particular Bible translation.

I remember years ago hearing about a young child who came home from school one day and told his parents that their class made a poster of a smiley face. The caption on the poster read: "Smile - God Loves You!" The Father - a conservative Calvinist - sent his son back to school the next day with a poster of his own. It was a big circle with a frown drawn on it that said, "Mourn - God Might Hate You!" If a father did that today he might get a call from Child Protective Services!
Anyway, Pastor Reisinger's sermon The Holiness of God, shatters a major myth about God. Just like the popular TV series, Myth Busters, Pastor Reisinger takes on the idea that the Bible teaches that God is Love, and that defines who God is in his central being.
I first heard Pastor Reisinger preach an earlier version of this same sermon around 1983. I liked it so much I shared it with my mother, who in turn liked it so much she sent it to her sister, who was married to a small town pastor in Montana. He liked it so much he played it for his church one day in lieu of the regular sermon.
While I really want to encourage you to listen to the whole sermon (or watch the YouTube video) here is just a very brief synopsis of what it is about:
1. In all the Bible the phrase "God is Love" only occurs two times, both in the book of I John.
2. In the whole book of Acts, which describes the early missionary efforts of the Apostles, the word 'love' does not occur one time.
3. But from Genesis all the way through Revelation God is described over and over and over again as being 'Holy.'
So sit back and prepare to have a major Christian Myth 'Busted' by Pastor John Reisinger:

One final note. As I said above, this sermon was originally preached by Pastor Reisinger many years ago. While the important elements are still there, one thing is missing that was in the original sermon - and the is the way he ended the sermon. And so, because I want you to have the benefit of both sermons, I am going to try to retell the story that Pastor Reisenger used to end his earlier version of this sermon:
There was a man who got drunk one night and as he was walking home from the bar, he tripped and fell into a lake and almost drown. And he would have drown, except someone saw him and jumped into the lake and rescued him.
The next day this same man who fell into the lake was back at the same bar getting drunk again - this time he was celebrating his being rescued from near drowning. Well, the bar he was in was selling illegal booze and it got raided by the police and this man was hauled off to jail.
The next morning as he was being escorted into the courtroom, he noticed that the judge was the same man who pulled him out of the lake the night before. The man smiled, waived his hand to the judge, and shouted, "Hey judge, remember me? I'm the guy you pulled out of the lake last night. Remember me?"
The judge didn't smile. He didn't bat an eye. He looked at the man and said, "Yesterday I was your savior. But today I'm your judge. And I'll judge you out of the book."
I think after you listen to this sermon you will see how this story makes a very fitting conclusion to this sermon.

Fed Court Rules Hobby Lobby Must Pay for Morning After Pill
Dilemma: What do you do if you are a Christian and you own a large company that employs thousands of workers, and the government says you must provide your employees with a pill that will kill an unborn baby? And if you refuse, the government is going to fine you $1.3 million dollars a day! (or in other words, the government is going to put you out of business).
The Bible says: "He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in that which is much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in that which is much." - Luke 16:10
My hope and prayer for the Hobby Lobby is that they will trust our Lord Jesus in this matter - even if it means losing their business and putting thousands of employees out of work. For our Lord Jesus promises:
"...everyone that hath forsaken houses, or breathren, or sisters, or fathers, or mothers, or wife, for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life." - Matthew 19:29

Another Look at the Authorized King James Bible
As I was searching the web for the Abortion video, The Hard Truth, I came across the following blog:

What caught my eye immediately on this blog was the note on the upper right hand corner:
"All scripture used in this blog is from the Authorized King James Bible. Permission given by Author"
I could say the same thing with My Gospel Project. I think. There was a period in my life when I literally did not have access to an Authorized King James Bible, and so I memorized a bunch of verses from the
NIV and I've never bothered to go back and 'rememorize' those verses out of the Authorized KJV.
Nevertheless, I am a big fan of the King James Version Bible. As I was looking through Kristina's blog, I picked up my Bible, my Authorized King James Bible, and I slowly started looking through the first pages to see if I could find a copyright notice. There was none.
Then I picked up an NIV Bible that I have near my desk. Here is what I found:
"The Holy Bible, New International Version, 1978, by the New York International Bible Society"
Then about half way down the page we are given limited permission to copy parts of this Bible:
"This copyrighted material may be quoted and/or reprinted for non-commercial purposes up to and inclusive of fifty (50) verses without express written permission of the publisher, providing the following credit line appears with the material being quoted: Taken from the Holy Bible, New International Version, 1978, by the New York International Bible Society, used by permission of Zondervan Bible Publishers."
Interesting. Who owns Zondervan again? Oh, ya, Rupert Murdoch. Let me see if I have this right. Rupert Murdoch owns News Corporation, which owns both Zondervan -publisher of the NIV Bible - and HarperCollins, which publishes the Satanic Bible. (See Largest Christian Publisher Zondervan, is a Division of HarperCollins, Which Publishes The Satanic Bible)
And this is who I would have to get 'written' permission from if I wanted to quote more than 50 verses from the NIV Bible on this site. No thanks. I'll stick with my Authorized King James Bible. The Author of that Bible, our Lord Jesus Christ, has given me his full permission to quote as many verses from that book as I want to.
