The Daily Spurgeon - March 30, 2013

Quotes by Pastor Charles Haddon Spurgeon (1834 - 1892)

“That old truth that Calvin preached, that Augustine preached, that Paul preached, is the truth that I must preach today, or else be false to my consceince and my God. I cannot shape the truth; I know of no such thing as paring off the rough edges of doctrine. John Knox's gospel is my gospel. That which thundered through Scotland must thunder through England again.(Source: The Forgotten Spurgeon, by Iain Murray, or you can follow the links below to listen to this great book!)

What Must I Do to Be Saved?

I started this blog, My Gospel Project, with one goal in mind - to do my part as a follower of my Lord Jesus Christ to spread his gospel to the ends of the earth. I talk about many things in this blog - news and current events, politics, social justice issues, etc. But the main purpose of this blog is to point people to my Lord Jesus.

Please take the time to listen to this very important - all important, really - message from Dr. David Murray:

The Most Important Question and Answer

Remembering "The Cross and the Switchblade"

Scorsese Developing 'Gangs of New York' TV Series - Associate Press

I've never seen the move, 'Gangs of New York,' and I don't plan on watching the TV series based on this movie. But I have seen the movie 'The Cross and the Switchblade.' In fact, I've seen it many times. I used to play this movie over and over again when I worked as a chapel janitor in prison. And I wholeheartedly recommend this movie to everyone - but especially to young people who are involved in gangs.

The world is coming apart at the seams. America if facing economic disaster, wars on several fronts - including a civil war (see my posts, A Civil War is Brewing in America: Now 340 Sheriffs Refuse to Enforce Gun Control Laws, and White House to Sheriffs: Follow Law in Enforcing Gun Control Measures).

If you are young and invovled in a gang, before you lay down your life for your gang,  please watch this powerful movie:

And after you watch that movie, if you want more information on what life is really about, please listen to Dr. David Murray's sermon:

The Daily Spurgeon - March 29, 2013

Quotes by Pastor Charles Haddon Spurgeon (1834 - 1892)

I do not believe in the way in which some people pretend to preach the gospel. They have no gospel for sinners as sinners, but only for those who are above the dead level of sinnership. And are technically styled, sensible sinners. Like the priest in [the parable of the Good Samaritan], they see the poor sinner and  they say, 'He is not conscious of his need, we cannot invite him to Christ.' 'He is dead,' they say, 'It is of no use preaching to dead souls;' So they pass by to the other side, keeping close to the elect and quickened, but having nothing whatsoever to say to the dead, lest they should make out Christ to be too gracious, and His mercy to be too free...I have known ministers say, 'Well, you know, we ought to describe the sinner's state, and warn him, but we must not invite him to Christ. Yes gentlemen, you must pass by on the other side, after having looked at him, for on your own confession you have no good news for the poor wretch.  I bless my Lord and Master he has given me a gospel which I can take to dead sinners, a gospel which is available for the vilest of the vile.”(Source: The Forgotten Spurgeon, by Iain Murray, or you can follow the links below to listen to this great book!)

Rush: Churches Could be Forced to Marry 'Gays'

Rush: Churches Could be Forced to Marry 'Gays' - WND News

Excerpt:

"If the U.S. Supreme Court legalizes same-sex marriages across America, then churches could be forced to perform homosexual weddings, even if they oppose the idea on religious grounds. That’s according to radio host Rush Limbaugh, who thinks there’s a good chance of it happening.  'The Catholic Church can be forced to give away abortifacients and birth-control pills. Why can’t the Church be forced to marry gay couples who want the sacrament? Any church,' Limbaugh said on his top-rated program Wednesday afternoon. 'I think it’s a pretty safe bet that that kind of thing will happen. Among militant leftists, attacking organized religion is part of the political agenda, whether gay or not.'"

Singer/actress Madonna has done much to condition the world into accepting homosexuality as normal. In one of her videos, she is portrayed as slowly descending into the fires of hell, while quoting from Revelation 21:8:

"But the fearful and unbelieving, and the abominable and murderers, and whoremongers and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, shall have their part in the lake of fire." (see You Tube video Madonna - Sold Soul for Rock and Roll):

When she has finished quoting the Bible and mocking God, she asks her audience: What are you going to do?

Rick Perry is supporting a bill that would return the state’s $1 billion in gold reserves currently stored by the Federal Reserve at a vault in New York to the state. The sponsor of the bill, State Rep. Giovanni Capriglione, R-Southlake, told the Texas Tribune, “For us to have our own gold, a lot of the runs on the bank and those types of things, they happen because people are worried that there’s nothing there to back it up.”

Pastor Says Jesus was Wrong About Marraige

Pastor: Jesus was Wrong About Marraige - Breitbart

Excerpt:

"If Jesus were alive today, he would be more inclined to say, 'You know, I didn't know it all.'" - Rev. Oliver White

No, "Rev." Oliver White white is mistaken on two counts:

First, our Lord Jesus is alive today. He has been alive ever since he rose from the dead 2000 years ago.
Second, Jesus would say the same thing today that he said in the Sermon on the Mount:

"Think not that I am come to destroy the law or the prophets. I am not come to destroy but to fulfill. For verily I say unto you, till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one title shall in no wise pass from the law till all be fulfilled." - Matthew 5:17,18

One of our Lord Jesus faithful servants, Pastor Charles Haddon Spurgeon, who although he died in 1892, is alive today with his Lord in heaven, would say to "Rev." Oliver White:

“It were better for me that I had never been born than that I preach to these people carelessly, or keep back any part of my Master's truth. Better to have been a devil than a preacher playing fast and loose with God's Word, and by such means working out the ruin of the souls of men...It will be the height of my ambition to be clear of the blood of all men. If, like George Fox, I can say in dying, 'I am clear, I am clear,' that were almost all the heaven I could wish for.”

The Daily Spurgeon - March 28, 2013

Quotes by Pastor Charles Haddon Spurgeon (1834 - 1892)

Remember sinner, it is not thy hold of Christ that saves thee – it is Christ; it is not thy joy in Christ that saves thee – It is Christ; It is not even faith in Christ, though that is the instrument – it is Christ's blood and merits; therefore, look not to thy hope, but to Christ, the source of thy hope; look not to thy faith, but to Christ, the Author and finisher of thy faith; and if thou doest that, ten thousand devils cannot throw thee down...There is one thing which we all of us too much becload our preaching, though I believe we do it very unintentionally – namely, the great truth that it is not our prayer, it is not faith, it is not our doings, it is not our feelings upon which we must rest, but upon Christ, and on Christ alone. We are apt to think that we are not in a right state, that we do not feel enough, instead of remembering that our business is not with self, but with Christ. Let me beseech thee, look only to Christ; never expect deliverance from self, from ministers, or from any means of any kind apart from Christ; keep thine eye simply on Him. Let his death, his agonies, His groans, His sufferings, His Merits, His glories, His intercession, be fresh upon thy mind; when thou wakest in the morning look for Him; when thou liest down at night look for Him.”(Source: The Forgotten Spurgeon, by Iain Murray, or you can follow the links below to listen to this great book!)

Explaining the Obama Economy to 6th Graders

Explaining the Obama's Economy to 6th Graders - TheBlaze.com

Excerpt:

"Let’s compare America to your household. That makes it very simple and easy to understand.
Let’s say you make $50,000 per year…and you owe $250,000 in credit card and consumer debt. You’re in deep trouble, right? One way or another, you are headed for bankruptcy court in the future.
Then you receive a credit line in the mail for $250,000. Are you rich? Of course not. That new credit line or credit card is not “income.” It’s more debt- a loan to be paid back at high interest rates. You didn’t just gain $250,000. You just added $250,000 to your debt. You still make $50,000, but instead of owing $250,000 in debt, you now owe $500,000. You think you’re “saved.” Actually you’re twice as broke as before. Insanity. That’s exactly what Obama is doing to the U.S. economy. He added $6 trillion in debt in only four years to “save” us from a terrible economy. Well he didn’t save anyone. He just put all of us into much deeper debt. This debt will destroy the lives of our children and grandchildren."

Christophobia In the News!

Website Stunner: Legalize Jesus - WND News

"Campaign launches attack on global Christophobia."

Excerpt:
"This is not a cold building with a dusty King James Bible and an unopened hymnal sitting on a pew.
This is a ministry that tries to be tuned in to today’s world and is run by, believe it or not, a Hollywood resident. 'What separates our site from groups like Open Doors and Voice of the Martyrs is we try to be a little edgier and hipper. We are also a little less institutionalized in our attempt to reach the younger generation with the reality of Christian persecution in America and around the world,' said Christian Broham, founder of Legalize Jesus."

Christophobia is real. And while I'm going to hold back my comments on this website until I have had more time to study it, I'd like to refer you to an excellent sermon on this topic by Dr. David Murray:

"We tremble [Paul says], lest we should misbelieve; and tremble more – if you are as I am – lest we should mistake and misinterpret the Word. I believe Martin Luther would have faced the infernal fiend himself without a fear; and yet we have his own confession that his knees often knocked together when he stood up to preach. He trembled, lest he should not be faithful to God's Word. To preach the whole truth is an awful charge, You and I, who are ambassadors for God, must not trifle, but we must tremble at God's Word.”  (Source: The Forgotten Spurgeon, by Iain Murray, or you can follow the links below to listen to this great book!)

The Daily Spurgeon - March 23, 2013

Quotes by Pastor Charles Haddon Spurgeon (1834 - 1892)

"[A preacher] ought to really know that he possesses the Spirit of God, and that when he speaks there is an influence upon him that enables him to speak as God would have him, otherwise out of the pulpit he should go directly; he has no right to be there. He has not been called to preach God's truth.”  (Source: The Forgotten Spurgeon, by Iain Murray, or you can follow the links below to listen to this great book!)

Note to the Department of Education: Mao Zedong Murdered 65 Million People.

Note to the Department of Education: Mao Zedong murdered 65 million people. | RedState:

Excerpt:

"This is the estimated number is from The Black Book of Communism: if some people consider that number suspect, there’s also Frank Dikötter’s estimate* of 45 million killed during the 'Great Leap Forward.' Even the New York Times thinks that 30 million died in that atrocity, while noting that the ChiComs admit to 16 million murdered by the state** during that time period. In short: Mao Zedong was a ruthless dictator who killed on a scale equivalent to Adolf Hitler and Josef Stalin. NEVER QUOTE HIM AGAIN ON A DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION-RUN KID’S WEBSITE."

Why We May Be Closer to Armageddon Than "Experts" Will Admit

Why we may be closer to Armageddon than "Experts" will admit | Peace . Gold . Liberty:

"I believe the United States is closer to thermonuclear war that at any time in our history, infinitely closer than the Cuban Missile Crisis. Here is why. The IMF showdown with the Banks in Cyprus is actually a financial attack on the Russian elites, many of whom are top level military or former KGB. Putin has attacked the IMF's policies in this matter. The draconian sanctions on Iran and North Korea are attacks on countries that are either clients or suppliers to China and Russia. It is not lost lost on the leaders of North Korea and Iran that "playing ball" with the West and the UN gets you killed, while Israel gets a pass on pretty much everything. This coupled with the embrace of "preemptive war" by Israel and the US provides the perfect excuse for a "Pearl Harbor" attack on the US and Israel."

WIll Hunger Devastate the Earth in the 21st Century?

Hunger to devastate Earth in 21st century? - English pravda.ru:

"Who would have thought that in the 21st century the problem of hunger will be paramount on our planet? However, this is our reality. According to the UN, 1.2 billion people in the world are experiencing food shortages, and the scale of the tragedy is getting larger. The UN is trying to combat it by taking various measures, but so far with little success. Could someone be benefiting from global hunger?"

‘Freight Train’ of Pro-Life Bills Overwhelms Abortionists

‘Freight train’ of pro-life bills overwhelms abortionists:

"There is panic among abortion advocates over what has been described as a freight train of pro-life proposals in North Dakota coming at them faster than they can respond, so their answer has been a flood of misinformation, according to pro-lifers. 'What is happening in North Dakota is significant for the pro-life movement,' said Gualberto Garcia Jones, an attorney for Personhood USA. 'The pro-abortion crowd is about to be [run] over by a pro-life train and they are afraid they will be unable to stop it.'"
