Government Shutdown Imminent As Republicans Add “Obamacare-Delay” To Funding Bill

» Government Shutdown Imminent As Republicans Add “Obamacare-Delay” To Funding Bill Alex Jones' Infowars: There's a war on for your mind!:

"It appears investors (CDS markets, VIX, T-Bills anxiety) were on to something as each side in the  looming government shutdown debate seems mired in their own belief that the other has more to lose. House Republicans are aiming to hold a vote today on a bill to extend government funding through December 15th and ensuring the military gets paid on any shutdown, but…"

Worthy Christian News » Afghanistan: Execute Converts to Christianity:

"KABUL, AFGHANISTAN (Worthy News)– A member of the Afghan Parliament recently recommended that Muslim converts to Christ be executed to stop the growth of Christianity among the Islamic nation's citizens both within Afghanistan's borders and abroad, according to Aleteia. 'The Afghan people continue to convert to Christianity in India,' Nazir Ahmad Hanafi told the assembly. 'This is an affront to the Islamic law and according to the Quran they have to be executed.'"

Bank Lobbyists Want to Raise Taxes on 96 Million Americans

Bank lobbyists want to raise taxes on 96 million Americans | The Daily Caller:

"As Congress debates an overhaul of the tax code, it is considering implementing new taxes that will have a dramatic impact on the middle class and effectively raise taxes on about 96 million people. This blanket-style review of the tax code would end the tax-exempt status for nonprofit credit unions, which would jeopardize tens of thousands of jobs and stifle economic growth. New taxes on credit unions will also eliminate needed competition between banks and credit unions. The result: higher fees and higher loan and mortgage rates for many in the middle class, and for small businesses."

In Kenya, terrorists chase Muslims out of a shopping mall, then start killing Christians, especially those who could not give them the name of Muhammad’s mother. "The NSA is nothing like the Stasi because the East German secret police relied on such things as typewriters, carbon copies, handwritten transcriptions of phone conversations, agents listening through doors and rudimentary bugging devices, and the aforementioned filing cabinets. The NSA, on the other hand, can apparently monitor electronically — in real time — every word of every phone call, every text message, every social media post, every website visited, and every form of electronic communication. The Daily Spurgeon - September 26, 2013

Quotes by Pastor Charles Haddon Spurgeon (1834 - 1892)

"A lady, who heard [George] Whitfield, in Scotland, preach upon the words, 'And the door was shut,' being placed near two dashing young men, but at a considerable distance from the pulpit, witnessing their mirth; and overheard one say, in a low tone to the other, 'Well, what if the door be shut. Another will open.' Thus they turned off the solemnity of the text. Mr. Whitfield had not proceeded far when he said, 'It is possible there may be some careless, trifling person here today, who may ward off the force of this impressive subject, by lightly thinking, 'What matter if the door be shut. Another will open.' The two young men were paralyzed, and looked at each other. Mr. Whitfield proceeded: 'Yes, another will open. And I will tell you what door it will be: it will be the door of the bottomless pit! - the door of hell! - the door which conceals from the eyes of angels the horrors of damnation!'" Government Dream of a Cashless Society Already a Reality

Government dream of a cashless society already a reality | The Times of Israel:

"It almost sounds like the opening to a bad joke: The government is seeking to severely limit the use of cash, in order to afford the authorities greater control over the economy and prevent tax evasion. Does that mean Israeli kids will be issued credit cards for when they buy gum from the candy store? Not credit cards – but credit accounts on their cellphones. New payment systems using technologies like NFC (near field communications) are already allowing shoppers to make even small purchases using ubiquitous smartphones and other portable devices, bringing the dream – or nightmare, depending on your point of view – of a cashless society within reach."

The Bible Says:

"And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, to receive the mark in their right hand or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. Here is wisdom, let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man; and his number is six hundred, three score and six." - Revelation 13:16-18

"And the third angel followed them, saying with a load voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead or in his hand, the same shall drink of the wrath of God which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation. And he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up forever and ever. And they have no rest, day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name." - Revelation 14:9-11

America's Re-shoring of Jobs Is Accelerating

America's Re-shoring of Jobs Is Accelerating:

"More than half of 200 U.S. companies with sales greater than $1 billion are moving jobs back to the United States, or are planning to, within the next two years. The announcement by Boston Consulting Group (BCG) on Tuesday confirms a subterranean paradigm shift that’s been underway for at least two years. Because of rising labor costs in China and elsewhere, the mathematics supporting offshoring of former American jobs has drastically changed for the worse, according to Harold Sirkin, senior partner at BCG:"

The Great Betrayal: How American Sovereignty and Social Justice Are Being Sacrificed to the Gods of the Global Economy, by Patrick Buchanan

Here is an excerpt from this great book:

"No site better captures yesterday's America than Detroit, forge and furnace of America's democracy. Detroit is the burned out case of American cities. The Empire of the Sun has its revenge. Japanese imports helped kill the city that built the weapons that destroyed the empire. Now grandsons of the soldiers of the imperial army work at high paying manufacturing jobs once held by the fathers of ten-dollar-an-hour retail clerks in Macomb County.
"But why blame the Japanese? We did it to ourselves. We Americans created a post war trading regime, in which, over 25 years, Japan bought 400,000 American cars while selling us 40 million Japanese cars, a ratio of 100:1. One president after another sat still while a third of America's greatest industry was shipped off to Japan...
"Americans no longer make their own cameras, shoes, radios, TVs, toys. A fifth of our steal, a third of our autos, half our machine tools, and two-thirds of our textiles are made abroad...
"The decline and fall of Middle America was neither preordained nor inevitable. It was engineered in Washington D.C. Wages have fallen and the standard of living of American families has stagnated because of a basic law: the law of supply and demand. The price of labor has been dropping because the supply of labor has exploded...
"Having declared free trade and open borders to be American policy, why are we surprised that corporate executives padlocked their plants in the Rust Belt and moved over seas?  Why keep your plants here when you can manufacture at a fraction of the cost abroad, ship your goods back, and pocket the windfall profits that come from firing $20 an hour Americans and hiring fifty-cent-an-hour Asians? A pair of Nikes that sells for $150 in the United States costs $5 in wages to make in Indonesia. Any wonder that Nike president Philip Knight is the fifth richest man in America, with $5.2 billion, while his Indonesian workers make 31 cents an hour?" (Emphasis mine)

Educators Expose Dangers of Common Core National Education:

"A hard-hitting video just released by FreedomProject Education (FPE) exposes some of the myriad dangers to liberty and education stemming from Common Core, a deeply controversial scheme to nationalize education standards being pushed by the Obama administration and a coalition of its establishment allies. While only a little over an hour long, the presentation, led by two education experts, offers a concise explanation of the threat and is sure to outrage parents, regardless of political affiliation. Elements of Common Core are already in place across America, and the picture is not pretty. "

Media Matters Falsely Claims 'Right Wing' Slurring Matthew Shepard:

"Media Matters has been on the attack over journalist Stephen Jimenez’s The Book of Matt: Hidden Truths about the Murder of Matthew Shepard. In their quest to uphold the apparent mythmaking surrounding Shepard, Media Matters oddly labels all coverage of The Book of Matt 'right-wing,' suggests that questioning the oft-told Shepard story is 'trutherism,' and neglects to make even a single argument about Jimenez’s argument: that Shepard’s death came at the hands of men to whom he was dealing meth, and at the hands of a man with whom he was lovers, rather than the anti-gay killing pounced on by the media and politicians with an axe to grind."

I would also like to recommend the following great book by Ralph Venning, published in 1669:

The Sinfulness of Sin

Here is an excerpt from this great book:

"'It's as if sinners should say to the Lord in the day of judgment, 'Lord have mercy on us!'
'Have mercy upon you?' says God. 'No, I will have no mercy upon you. There was a time when you might have had mercy without judgment, but now you shall have judgment without mercy. Depart! Depart!'
'If they should then beg and say, 'Lord, if we must depart, let it be from Thy throne of judgment, but not from Thee.'
'No,' says the Lord. 'Depart from me. Depart form my presence, which is joy. Depart, and go to hell!'
'Lord,' they say, 'seeing we must be gone, bless us before we go, that Thy blessing may be upon us.'
'Oh no,' says God, 'Go with a curse. Depart ye cursed.'
'Oh Lord, if we must go from Thee, let us not go into the place of torment, but appoint a place, if not of pleasure, then of ease.'
'No, depart into fire, burning and tormenting flames.'
'Oh Lord, if into fire, let it be only for a little while. For who can dwell in everlasting burning?'
'No! Neither you nor the fire shall know an end. Be gone into everlasting fire.'
'Lord, then let it be long before we go there.'
'No, depart immediately. The sentence shall be immediately put into execution.'
'Oh Lord, let us at least have good company who will pity us, though they cannot help us.'
'No, you shall have none but the tormenting devils. Those whom you obeyed when they were your tempters shall be with you as tormentors.'
What misery sin has brought on man to bring him to hear this dreadful doom."

Cardiologist to Impatient Patient: "You Don't Want to Be On the Top of My List!"

I used to work in a hospital. I recall an anecdote one of the RNs told me once. She said one of her patients was complaining to her doctor, a cardiologist, about not being seen quickly enough. The cardiologist explained that he had other patients he needed to see first, to which she replied: "Well, how do I get on the top of your list?"

The cardiologist responded: "Trust me, you don't want to be on the top of my  list!"

"The German homeschooling parents whose children were taken away by the state now say they'll send their children to a state-approved school. Two weeks ago, German authorities raided the home of Dirk and Petra Wunderlich and took their children into custody because they insisted on home schooling their children."

American Dependency: "Give Me My Food Stamps!"

WATCH: American Dependency: "Give Me My Food Stamps":

"As of this week fully 25% of American households – about 48 million people – are dependent on government food stamps to put food on the table. The system is plagued with fraud on every level. Food stamp scams are rampant, with recipients often off-loading their monthly electronic benefit transfer cards for cash value. Mega lobbies spend tens of millions of dollars a year just to keep the pump primed and the funds flowing so that companies like Walmart and 7-11 can keep their revenues up. Big banks, including behemoths like JP Morgan, are cashing in by providing the processing facilities to make it happen. It’s a racket."

The Best of The Daily Spurgeon

On of the longest running features that I have on this site is called The Daily Spurgeon. This is just my collection of quotes by the 19th century Pastor Charles Haddon Spurgeon. Many of these quotes I have gotten from other sites on the web (and I have tried to give my sources for these quotes).

I also have gleaned many quotes from Spurgeon's Sermon Notes, Iain H. Murray's The Forgotten Spurgeon, as well as from several of his sermons as well. Below is a collection of what I consider some of his best quotes that I have posted on this site (Along with an occasional comment from myself!): (Note: you can listen to an audio version of The Forgotten Spurgeon on Sermonaudio).

Pastor Spurgeon:

"Of a certain preacher it was said: He preaches as if Jesus were at his side. Don't you see how every now and then he turns around as if he were saying, 'Lord Jesus, what shall I say next?'" (From Spurgeon's Sermon Notes, posted on September 20, 2013)

My comment: While I'm not a minister (never been one, never will be one!), I like to think of my Lord Jesus sitting next to me as I blog, so I can look over to him from time to time and say, "Lord Jesus, what should I blog about next?"

Pastor Spurgeon:

"...he made hundreds of thousands of dollars - and gave it all away. Redpath offered him one hundred thousand dollars for one hundred lectures in America. Spurgeon responded, 'No, I am a minister and have never lectured for money." (posted on September 19, 2013)'"

My comment: I posted a link to Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous Laodiceans along with this quote.

Pastor Spurgeon:

"'What?' you say. 'Can God make me become a Christian?' I tell you, yes, for herein lies the power of the gospel. It does not ask your consent, but it gets it. It does not say, 'Will you have it?' but it makes you willing in the day of God's power...The gospel wants not your consent; it gets it. It knocks the enmity out of your heart. He makes your will turn around, and then you cry, 'Lord, save, or I perish.' 'Ah,' might heaven say, 'I knew I would make you say that!'" (posted on October 1, 2013)

My Comment:

Check out my posts: Calvinism Refuted - And Defended! The Five Points of Calvinism; and Spurgeon Takes on the Hyper-Calvinists!

Pastor Spurgeon:

"Except the Holy Ghost illumine us, all the suns in the Milky Way never will."

Pastor Spurgeon:

"The Divine nature, the filiation of the Son of God, the complex person of Jesus, the procession of the Holy Ghost, and so forth, are not so much to be understood as to be believed."(Source: Spurgeon's Sermon Notes)

Pastor Spurgeon:"Scripture says, 'Owe no man anything,' which does not mean 'pay your debts,' but never have any to pay.'"

Pastor Spurgeon:

"Our sons and daughters are not likely to be saved in a desolate church.” - Spurgeon's Sermon Notes

Pastor Spurgeon:

"If sinners will be damned, at least let them leap to hell over our bodies. And if they will perish, let them perish with our arms around their knees, imploring them to stay. If hell must be filled, at least let it be filled in the teeth of our exertions, and let not one go there unwarned and unprayed for." (posted on December 26, 2012)

Pastor Spurgeon:

"Satan must have thought much of Martin Luther. 'I could ride the world over,' says he, 'if it were not for that monk. He stands in my way. That strong headed man hates and mauls my first born son, the pope. If I could get rid of him I wouldn't mind though 50,000 smaller saints stood in my way." (posted on December 13, 2013; from Spurgeon's sermon Satan Considering the Saints)

Pastor Spurgeon:

"Moreover, if Satan cannot destroy a Christian, how often has he spoilt his usefulness? Many a believer has fallen, not to break his neck - that is impossible - but he has broken some important bone and he has gone limping to the grave." (posted on December 12, 2012; from Spurgeon's sermon Satan Considering the Saints)

Pastor Spurgeon:

"The way to stronger faith usually lies along the rough road of sorrow. Affliction is the best piece of furniture in my house, it is the best book in the minster's library." (posted on December 10, 2012)

Pastor Spurgeon:

"That old truth that Calvin preached, that Augustine preached, that Paul preached, is the truth that I must preach today, or else be false to my conscience and my God. I cannot shape the truth; I know of no such thing as paring off the rough edges of doctrine. John Knox's gospel is my gospel. That which thundered through Scotland must thunder through England again." (posted on March 30, 2013; from Iain Murray's The Forgotten Spurgeon)

Pastor Spurgeon:

"Better to have been a devil than a preacher playing fast and loose with God's Word, and by such means working out the ruin of the souls of men...It will be the height of my ambition to be clear of the blood of all men. If, like George Fox, I can say in dying, 'I'm am clear. I'm am clear' that were almost all the heaven I could wish for." (posted on March 27, 2013; from Iain Murray's The Forgotten Spurgeon

Pastor Spurgeon:

"Christ is meek, as opposed to the ferocity and bigotry of zealots. Take for example the false prophet Muhammad. The strength of his cause lies in the fact that he is not meek. He presents himself  before those he claims as disciples and says: 'Take my yolk upon you and learn of me, for I am neither meek nor lowly in heart; I will have no patience with you; there is my creed, or there is the scimitar. Death or conversion, whichever you please."

Pastor Spurgeon:

"We admire a man who was firm in the faith, say four hundred years ago...but such a man today is a nuisance, and must be put down. Call him a narrow minded bigot or give him a worse name, if you can think of one.
"Yet imagine that in those ages past Luther, Zwingli, Calvin and their compeers had said, 'The world is out of order,  but if we try to get it right we shall only make a great row, and get ourselves into disgrace. Let us go to our chambers, put on our night caps, and sleep over the bad times, and perhaps when we wake up things will have grown better.'
"Such conduct on their part would have entailed upon us a heritage of error. Age after age would have
gone down into the infernal deeps, and the pestiferous bogs of error would have swallowed all. These men loved the faith and the love of Jesus too well to see them trampled on.
"It is today as it was in the Reformer's days. Decision is needed. Here is the day for the man, where is the man for the day? We who have had the gospel passed to us by martyr hands dare not trifle with it, nor sit by and hear it denied by traitors, who pretend to love it but inwardly abhor every line of it...look you, sirs, there are ages yet to come.
"If the Lord does not speedily appear, there will come another generation, and another, and all those generations will be tainted and injured if we are not faithful to God and to his truth today. We have come to a turning point in the road. If we turn to the right, mayhap our children and our children's children will go that way. But if we turn to the left, generations yet unborn will curse our names for having been unfaithful to God and to his Word."

7 in 10 Americans Think Government Is For The Banks And Big Corps (Not The People)

7 in 10 Americans Think Government Is For The Banks And Big Corps (Not The People) | Zero Hedge:

"72% of the poor and 71% of the middle-class believe government policies (fiscal and monetary) have done little or nothing to help them. Of course, this will be eschewed by the academics (as Santelli recently exclaimed regarding the arrogance of the intellectuals) because 'the people' just don't get it. But when 69% of all Americans, according a new Pew study, say large banks and financial institutions have benefited the most from post-recession government policies; communications policies are going badly awry. Despite a surging stock market, exploding home prices, and low rates spurring all kinds of subprime auto loan exuberance, there has been little change in these perceptions since July 2010."

If "72% of the poor and 71% of the middle-class" had read Gary Allen's 1971 book, None Dare Call it Conspiracy, they would KNOW why the government is for the big banks and not for them! (These people should also read: "What Happens When Governments Tries to Disarm its Citizens?").

Is The Fed Ready To Cut America’s Fiat Life Support?:

Excerpts from this article:

"The Fed has conjured up a perfect Catch-22 scenario for the U.S. economy...cancel stimulus, and we croak. Continue stimulus, and we croak."

"It is undeniable that America is thoroughly addicted to fiat stimulus. Every aspect of our economy, from stocks, to bonds, to banks, and by indirect extension main street, is now utterly dependent on the continued 24/7 currency creation bonanza...investors and banks still playing equities understand full well that any sign of fiscal improvement might mean the end of the private Federal Reserve’s QE pajama party. They know that without the Fed’s opiate-laced lifeline, the economy dies a fast and painful death."

Constitutional scholar Mark Levin said:

"You should view these politicians with the deepest contempt you can possibly imagine.  What they are doing to this country, what they are doing to our finances - there is not a criminal in any federal prison, state prison, city or county jail with respect to financial crimes of any sort who collectively could have done the kind of damage that Barack Obama and Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi and yes, willing, timid, gutless Republicans have done to this country! To your future, to your children and your grandchildren. What they are doing is with malice and with forethought." (source)

Too Big To Fail Is Now Bigger Than Ever Before

Too Big To Fail Is Now Bigger Than Ever Before:

"The too big to fail banks are now much, much larger than they were the last time they caused so much trouble.  The six largest banks in the United States have gotten 37 percent larger over the past five years.  Meanwhile, 1,400 smaller banks have disappeared from the banking industry during that time.  What this means is that the health of JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, Citigroup, Wells Fargo, Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley is more critical to the U.S. economy than ever before.  If they were “too big to fail” back in 2008, then now they must be “too colossal to collapse”.  Without these banks, we do not have an economy."

It's a world where your children are measured by the size of their carbon footprint, rather than the content of their character. It's a world directed by global bureaucrats who are not accountable to any voter. It's a world of government subsidized and expensive wind, solar, and biofuel energy. 57% Believe in the Devil

57% believe in the devil, 72% for blacks, 61% for women | WashingtonExaminer.com:

"A majority of Americans believe in the devil, especially blacks and women, according to a new national poll about exorcism."

In his great book, The Screwtape Letters, the late Christian apologist C.S. Lewis says: "There are two equal and opposite errors which our race can fall about the devils. One is to disbelieve their existence. The other is to believe, and to feel and excessive and unhealthy interest in them. They [the devils] are equally pleased by both errors, and hail the materialist and the magician with the same delight."

Satan and his demons are real. Just as real as their final resting place - hell! (Revelation 20:10). Don't doubt it for a moment. When you hear a very educated college professor spewing out nonsense about evolution, you can almost see a black, vile creature whispering lies into his ears.

But if you don't believe in Satan - if you want proof - here is one way you can meet Satan 'face to face:' DON'T listen to the following sermon by 18th century pastor and theologian, Jonathan Edwards:
