R.C. Sproul: For Justification By Faith Alone

This is a timely message in light of the upcoming CRISLAM summit (Please listen to Geoffrey Grider's podcast,  Joe Biden Summoned to the Vatican to Prepare for CRISLAM Summit, by Geoffrey Grider of nowtheendbegins.com ):

Here are some quotes from RC Sproul's book: Faith Alone: The Evangelical Doctrine of Justification

"Does saving faith require a trust in the righteousness of Christ alone as the grounds of our justification? Or may a person have a different view of the gospel and still be a Christian?"
"It is to Rome's credit, in my opinion, that she placed anathema on what she believed to be a false and heretical gospel. If sola fide is a distortion of the biblical gospel, surely it deserves such anathama. If the Reformers were preaching and teaching a false gospel, then they were apostate and deserved the labels put on them by Vatican I, 'schismatics and heritics.'"
"The Reformation was waged, not over the question of justification by faith, but over the issue of justification by faith alone. It was the sola of sola fide that was the central point of dispute."
"I said that if justification by faith alone is essential for salvation, and if Rome rejects justification by faith alone, then the conclusion follows by resistless logic that Rome rejects an essential truth of Christianity. When I use the word, if, here, I do so for the sake of the present argument. In my mind there is no if about it. I am convinced, as were the Reformers, that justification by faith alone is essential to the gospel, and that Rome clearly rejects it."
"Agreement between Rome and Evangelicals can be reached in several ways. One is for Evangelicals to abandon their historic position of sola fide. A second is for Rome to adopt sola fide as its official doctrine. The third is for agreement to be reached that sola fide is not essential to the gospel."
"To indicate that the Roman view is inadequate, or it falls short, is a gentle criticism. In my estimation, it is too gentle. One could construe this statement to mean that, though it has short comings and is less than adequate, the Roman 'version of the gospel' is still just that, a 'version of the gospel.' The New Testament makes it clear that there is only one gospel. An 'inadequate' gospel is not the gospel. A gospel that 'falls short' of its essence is not a true gospel and must be vigorously rejected."
"I can imagine no Reformed theologian from the 16th century to the present day suggesting that the Roman Catholic view is not a serious threat to the gospel."

A Halloween Sermon for You: I Saw the Dead

I Saw the Dead, by Dr. David P. Murray

This somber gospel sermon is based on the following Biblical text:

Revelation 20:11-15

"And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.  And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.  And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire."

Here is a great quote by Martin Luther to Erasmus:

"'You alone,' [Luther] tells Erasmus, 'have attacked the real thing, that is, the essential issue. You have not worried me with those extraneous issues about the Papacy, purgatory, indulgences and such like - trifles, rather than issues - in respect of which almost all to date have sought my blood...you, and you alone, have seen the hinge on which all turns, and aimed for the vital spot. For that, I heartily think you; for it is more gratifying to me to deal with this issue.' 'Free-Will' was no academic question to Luther; the whole gospel of the grace of God, he held, was bound up with it, and stood or fell according to the way one decided it."  -  Protestant Reformer Martin Luther (1483-1546) to Roman Catholic scholar Erasmus (1466-1636):(Source)

Here is what Ann Coulter has to say about the Vietnam War:

"Vietnam is the Left's favorite war because America lost."

"Historical accounts of the Vietnam War are incomprehensible because liberals refuse to admit the failure of their national security strategy. The only important lesson from the Vietnam War is this: Democrats lose wars."

"In the great Democratic tradition of taking the nation to war without a plan to win, only the Democrats could have produced Vietnam."

"President Lyndon Johnson, who inherited the war when Kennedy was assassinated, viewed the Vietnam War as a method of proving the Democrats could be trusted with foreign policy, which they cannot."

"Nixon had been elected in part based on his promise to end the war honorably. He would have done so, too, but for Democrats in Congress,"

"A Republican President either wouldn't have started that war, or would have won it pretty fast."

Daily Sermon for the Hearing Impaired: The Valley of Dry Bones

The Valley of Dry Bones, by Joe W Allen [Text: Ezekiel 37:1-14 (Audio)]

Note: This daily sermon for the hearing impaired is dedicated to my good friend, David J. Bishop, who went home to be with his Lord Jesus on July 1, 2021. David was the inspiration for me to begin posting links to sermons for the hearing impaired. David's not deaf any more. And the first words he heard were from our Lord Jesus, saying to him, "Well done, David, thou good and faithful servant. Enter into the joy of thy Lord!" [Matthew 25:21 (Audio)]

Here is one of the last pictures David sent to me before he died. He was a big sports fan and LOVED the Seattle Seahawks! But David loved our Lord Jesus much, much more!

"Whosoever calleth upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." - Romans 10:13

"My friend I stand in Judgment now
And feel that your to blame somehow.
While on this earth I walked with you day by day
And never did you point the way.

"You knew the Lord in truth and glory,
But never did you tell the story.
My knowledge then was very dim,
You could have led me safe to him.

"Though we lived together here on earth
You never told me of the second birth.
And now I stand this day condemned,
Because you failed to mention him.

"You taught me many things, that's true,
I called you friend, and trusted you.
But now I learned, now it's too late,
You could have kept me from this fate.

"We walked by day and talked by night,
And yet you showed me not the light.
You let me live, love and die,
And all the while you knew I'd never live on high.

"Yes, I called you friend in life,
And trusted you in joy and strife.
Yet in coming to this end,
I see you really weren't my friend!"
-My Friend, by D.J. Higgins
