Biden Staring into the Abyss - And So Are We

Biden Staring into the Abyss - And So Are We - cnsnews.com

-----------------------------

Here is an excerpt from Patrick Buchanan's great book, The Great Betrayal: How American Sovereignty and Social Justice Are Being Sacrificed to the Gods of the Global Economy:

"No site better captures yesterday's America than Detroit, forge and furnace of America's democracy. Detroit is the burned out case of American cities. The Empire of the Sun has its revenge. Japanese imports helped kill the city that built the weapons that destroyed the empire. Now grandsons of the soldiers of the imperial army work at high paying manufacturing jobs once held by the fathers of ten-dollar-an-hour retail clerks in Macomb County.

"But why blame the Japanese? We did it to ourselves. We Americans created a post war trading regime, in which, over 25 years, Japan bought 400,000 American cars while selling us 40 million Japanese cars, a ratio of 100:1. One president after another sat still while a third of America's greatest industry was shipped off to Japan...

"Americans no longer make their own cameras, shoes, radios, TVs, toys. A fifth of our steal, a third of our autos, half our machine tools, and two-thirds of our textiles are made abroad...

"The decline and fall of Middle America was neither preordained nor inevitable. It was engineered in Washington D.C. Wages have fallen and the standard of living of American families has stagnated because of a basic law: the law of supply and demand. The price of labor has been dropping because the supply of labor has exploded...

"Having declared free trade and open borders to be American policy, why are we surprised that corporate executives padlocked their plants in the Rust Belt and moved over seas?  Why keep your plants here when you can manufacture at a fraction of the cost abroad, ship your goods back, and pocket the windfall profits that come from firing $20 an hour Americans and hiring fifty-cent-an-hour Asians? A pair of Nikes that sells for $150 in the United States costs $5 in wages to make in Indonesia. Any wonder that Nike president Philip Knight is the fifth richest man in America, with $5.2 billion, while his Indonesian workers make 31 cents an hour?"

Daily Sermon for the Hearing Impaired: Charged and Equipped

Charged and Equipped, by Joe W. Allen [Text: Ezekiel 2:1 (Audio)]

Note: This daily sermon for the hearing impaired is dedicated to my good friend, David J. Bishop, who went home to be with his Lord Jesus on July 1, 2021. David was the inspiration for me to begin posting links to sermons for the hearing impaired. David's not deaf any more. And the first words he heard were from our Lord Jesus, saying to him, "Well done, David, thou good and faithful servant. Enter into the joy of thy Lord!" [Matthew 25:21 (Audio)]

Here is one of the last pictures David sent to me before he died. He was a big sports fan and LOVED the Seattle Seahawks! But David loved our Lord Jesus much, much more!

"Whosoever calleth upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." - Romans 10:13

"My friend I stand in Judgment now
And feel that you're to blame somehow.
While on this earth I walked with you day by day
And never did you point the way.

"You knew the Lord in truth and glory,
But never did you tell the story.
My knowledge then was very dim,
You could have led me safe to him.

"Though we lived together here on earth
You never told me of the second birth.
And now I stand this day condemned,
Because you failed to mention him.

"You taught me many things, that's true,
I called you friend, and trusted you.
But now I learned, now it's too late,
You could have kept me from this fate.

"We walked by day and talked by night,
And yet you showed me not the light.
You let me live, love and die,
And all the while you knew I'd never live on high.

"Yes, I called you friend in life,
And trusted you in joy and strife.
Yet in coming to this end,
I see you really weren't my friend!"
-My Friend, by D.J. Higgins

I grew up believing the CIA spied on America's enemies in order to protect Americans. It turns out that may not be the case. The following quote is from Deep Truth: The Lives of Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein:

"Whenever you run a clandestine operation, you run two things at the same time: you prepare the team for the hit, and you keep it so small there's nobody to spread it all around. And across the hall is a big staff working on what we call special plans. They're preparing the cover story. The cover story is what they want people to believe and to talk about, and to argue about." - From a 1992 speech by Col. Fletcher Prouty, former chief of special operations, Joint Chief of Staff (as quoted in Deep Truth: The Lives of Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein)

Compel Them to Come In, by Pastor Charles Spurgeon (1834-1892)

This sermon was preached in 1858, but it is just as relevant for today as if it were preached this morning! The text for Pastor Spurgeon's sermon is Luke 14:23 (Audio):

"And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled."

Spurgeon once said, 'Wherever the gospel is preached, the most wicked of men and women are made to sit at the Savior's feet, clothed and in their right minds."

The Mark of the Beast - Is it Unfolding Before Our Eyes? by Rev. Noel Hughes

I just saw an ad for masks. The ad said, "This is not a mask. It's a sign of solidarity." I couldn't help but wonder when we will hear ads for the Mark of the Beast that say, "This is not a number - 666 - It's a sign of solidarity!

The Bible says:

Revelation 13:16-18 says

"And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six."

And a closely related text is Revelation 14:9-11

"And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name."

Daily Quote for Thursday, December 30, 2021

"'But, brother,' said Mr. Great-Heart, 'I have it in my commission to 'comfort the feeble-minded,' and 'to support the weak.'  You must needs go along with us: we will wait for you; we will lend you our help; we will deny ourselves some of the things, both opinionate and practical, for your sake; we will not enter into 'doubtful disputations' before you; we will be 'made all things' to you, rather than you shall be left behind."  - John Bunyan (1628-1688).

This quote is from John Bunyan's book, Pilgrim's Progress.  You can read, listen, and download Pilgrim's Progress for free by going to https://www.ccel.org/ccel/bunyan/pilgrim.html. I read that Charles Spurgeon (1834-1892) read this book over 100 times during his lifetime. According to Wikipedia, Pilgrim's Progress has been translated into more than 200 languages, and has never been out of print!
