Cold Fusion: Nuclear Energy Without the Drama!

Sorry, but I borrowed the title of this post from chapter in a book I'm reading by Michael Brooks, Ph.D: 13 Things that Don't Make Sense. I like to read books that are over my head from time to time, and this is one of them.

As for fusion, cold or otherwise, everything I know about that topic I learned from this book:

"Nuclear fusion is real enough. Squash two atoms close enough together, and their nuclei join, or fuse, creating one heavy atom, and releasing energy." - Page 58

And that is pretty much the extent of what I know about Cold fusion (or hot fusion, for that matter!). What I really want to talk about in this post isn't cold fusion, but rather Constants in science (see chapter 3 in  13 Things that Don't Make Sense).

Specifically, I want to retell the story of a British astronomer named Arthur Eddington (which I also learned from reading this book!). Arther Eddington published a paper in 1935 titled New Pathways in Science. In this manuscript he tells about 4 "ultimate constants" of nature. These were things that never change.

These constants were:

1. The number of protons in the universe
2. Alpha (read the book!)
3. The ratio of gravitational and electromagnetic forces that pull an electron toward a proton
4. The ratio of the proton's mass to the electron's mass

This was 1935.  Fast forward to 2008 (when Michael Brooks wrote 13 Things that Don't Make Sense), and 2 of these 4 constants are no longer accepted by scientists as 'constant.'

Someone once said it is a good thing that science and the Bible do not agree, or we'd have to get a new Bible every 10 years. I believe that. In spite of all their learning, the most educated scientists that exist today have barely even scratched the surface when it comes to knowing how the universe works.  There really is only one "constant" that we can count on, and it is found in the Bible:

"Forever, O Lord, Thy Word is settled in heaven." - Psalms 119:89

The Architects of Our Economic Demise

The Architects of Our Economic Demise - Canada Free Press

Excerpt:

"Today, we are witnessing the final stages of the greatest financial fraud ever perpetrated on the American people. Behind the massive debt, threat of “sequestration,” and the threat of massive pending layoffs exists a story that must be told and understood by every American. It is a truth that too few understand and even fewer will talk about. The system has been rigged. However, understanding exactly what is being done to us, our country, and our economy has been deliberately made difficult for a person of average or even above-average intelligence by the architects of our demise. This process continues today, and much of it is done in secret or behind closed doors. Every person on the planet is being robbed of their wealth by a select group of people. Worse, they are robbing your children, grandchildren, and further generations of their wealth not yet earned and (by extension) their time not yet invested, while making you believe that their enrichment is your moral obligation. It’s mental conditioning on a grand scale."

The Daily Spurgeon - February 27, 2013

Quotes by Pastor Charles Haddon Spurgeon (1834 - 1892)

"I have some here, however, who will laugh at what I have been preaching this morning. Ah! sirs, you may do so; but bitter though my text may be, I wish you had it in your mouths. Though sad be the experience of being torn when coming to Christ, I had rather see you so than see you whole, away from Christ. It is better to be rent in pieces coming to the Saviour, than to have a sound, whole heart away from him. Tremble, sinner, tremble, for if thou comest not to Christ, he shall rend thee at last; his eye shall not pity, neither shall his hand spare thee. He hath said, "Beware ye that forget God, lest I tear you in pieces and there be none to deliver." Sirs, within another hour, and some of you may know this; certainly, before long there are some who will be torn in pieces by the wrath of God. Why will ye die? Why will ye die? You cannot answer the question, I think; but let it rest upon your hearts. What profit will you have in your own blood? What will you profit if you gain the whole world and lose your own soul? Remember, Jesus Christ can save even you. Believe on his name, ye convinced sinners, believe on Christ. The Lord bless you, for Jesus' sake! Amen."(The Comer's Conflict with Satan)

My Prayer for 2013: Every Reader a Missionary!

One December 16, 2012, I posted a short article to this site titled: Dear Jesus: Give me the Heathen for Christmas in 2012! Today's post is an update to that earlier post.

One of the highlights to my day is checking the statistics for My Gospel Project. So far, I have had people from the following countries visit this site:

Afganistan, Albania, Algeria, Argentina, Australia, Bangladesh, Bahrain, Bolivia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Cambodia, Canada, Chili, China, Colombia, Congo [DRC], Croatia, Denmark, Egypt, El Salvador, Iraq, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Haiti, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Japan, Kenya, Laos, Macedonia, Malaysia, Mexico, Moldova, Myanmar, [Burma], Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Pakistan, Peru, Philippians, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand,Turkey, United Kingdom, Venezuela, Vietnam, Ukraine,United Arab Emerites, United States and Zambia.
I started My Gospel Project with the sole purpose of doing my part - as a layman, a non-minister -  to help spread the gospel of my Lord Jesus Christ to the ends of the earth. Although I write about a very wide variety of topics (some controversial!), that remains the sole purpose of this website.

One of the ministers that I quote from frequently on this site is Pastor Charles Spurgeon (1834 - 1892).  This godly pastor has been used by our Lord to bring the gospel to more people that almost anyone in history. And yet his own conversion, which you can listen to in The Conversion of Charles Spurgeon, took place in a small church under the preaching of an unordained minister (the regular minister was not able to make it so someone in the congregation stood up and preached on the text : "Look unto me and be ye saved" - Isaiah 45:22).

While I appreciate every one who takes the time to stop by my website - for whatever reason - what I would really like is that my readers from all around the world - the United States included! - would be able to find the gospel in these web pages, and go out and be like Pastor Spurgeon, and spread that gospel to the 'far ends of the earth.

That is my prayer for 2013!

The "Go Getter" Gets a Job!

I was just reading today how that 61% of people in Greece under the age of24 are unemployed (See How Broke is Greece? This Broke) While I see this as 'Coming to America' in the very near future, at least for now, persistence has paid off, at least for one 18 year old in Minneapolis:

Quotes by Pastor Charles Haddon Spurgeon (1834 - 1892)

"Satan's heart is made up of that which is just the opposite of benevolence—malevolence; he hates everything, and loves nothing; he hates to see any creature happy, any soul glad; and when he sees a soul coming to Christ, he says, 'Ah! I have nearly lost him; I shall never have an opportunity of bringing thundering condemnation into his ears, and dragging him about in the flames of hell as I thought; and now before he is gone I will do something; the last grip shall be a hard one; the last blow shall be dealt with all my power;' and down he comes upon the poor soul, who falls wallowing upon the earth in despair and doubt; then he tears him, and will not leave him until he has worked as much of his way with him as the Lord will let him. Don't be afraid, child of God. 'Resist the devil, and he will flee from you;' and even though he may cast you to the ground, remember that the righteous falleth many times, but he riseth up again; and so shalt thou, and the designs of the enemy shall be frustrated, as it is written, 'Thine enemies shall be found liars unto thee.'"(The Comer's Conflict with Satan)

The Daily Spurgeon - February 24, 2013

Quotes by Pastor Charles Haddon Spurgeon (1834 - 1892)

"Then if the devil cannot overcome you there, he tries another method; he takes all the threatening passages out of God's Word, and says they all apply to you. He reads you this passage, 'There is a sin unto death; I do not say that ye should pray for it.' 'There,' says the devil, 'the apostle did not say he could even pray for the man who had committed certain sins.' Then he reads, that 'sin against the Holy Ghost shall never be forgiven.' 'There,' he says, 'is your character: you have committed sin against the Holy Ghost, and you will never be pardoned.' Then he brings another passage: 'Let him alone; Ephraim is joined unto idols.' 'There,' says Satan, 'you have had no liberty in prayer lately; God has let you alone; you are given unto idols; you are entirely destroyed;' and the cruel fiend is to be lost. But do not believe him my dear friends. No man has committed the sin against the Holy Ghost as long as he has grace to repent; it is certain that no man can have committed that sin if he flies to Christ and believes on him. No believing soul can commit it; no penitent sinner ever has committed it. If a man be careless and thoughtless—if he can hear a terrible sermon and laughed it off, and put away his convictions—if he never feels any strivings of conscience, there is a fear that he may have committed that sin. But as long as you have any desires for Christ, you have no more committed that sin than you have flown up to the stars and swept cobwebs from the skies. As long as you have any sense of your guilt, any desire to be redeemed, you cannot have fallen into that sin; as a penitent you may still be saved, but if you had committed it, you could not be penitent."(The Comer's Conflict with Satan)

And when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto his disciples, Why eateth your Master with publicans and sinners? But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick. But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance." - Matthew 9:10-13

Are You "Too Stessed to Be Blessed?"

Are you "too blessed to be stressed?" Are you "too anointed to be disappointed?" Do you roll your eyes when you hear worn out Christian cliches? Join the club! But some cliches get worn out because there is a nugget of truth in them, and I'd like to share one of them with you:

"Bibles that are falling apart are usually owned by people who aren't." I believe that came from Pastor Charles Spurgeon (1834 - 1892), although I'm not sure he was the first to say it.

Of course, that cliche doesn't always hold true. There are many people who know the Bible from cover to cover that hate Jesus Christ with a passion. I guess another cliche that balances out this one would be: "You can memorize the whole Bible and not have it!"

As Pastor Spurgeon says in another place, "Except the Holy Ghost illumine us, all the suns in the Milky Way never will!"

Still, I like that cliche: "Bible's that are falling apart are usually owned by people who aren't."  Pastor Spurgeon relates the following story in one of his books (or was it from one of his sermons?):

"When George Peabody was staying at Sir Charles Reed's house, he saw the youngest child bring to his father a large Bible for family prayers. Mr. Peabody said, 'Ah! my boy, you carry the Bible now, but the time is coming when you will find that the Bible must carry you."

Amen!

Drought Forcasted for America & Rest of the World

There is a drought forcasted for the United States, according to an article in The Los Angeles Times (see Drought Forecast to Persist in Much of U.S., Especially in the West).  The Bible also predicts a drought (and a famine!):

"Behold, the days come, saith the Lord God, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord: And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it." - Amos 8:11,12.

Now, more than ever before, followers of our Lord Jesus should become 'spiritual preppers,' laying up God's word both in our minds, but especially in our hearts. King David said, under inspiration of the Holy Spirit:

"Thy Word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against Thee." - Psalms 119:11

Spiritual Food Pyramid, by Dr. David Murray

"The Genesis Death Sandwhich:" & The Spiritual Food Pyramid

I have watched Chuck Missler's "Learn the Bible in 24 Hours," and while I can't endorse all of what Dr. Missler says, there is much good stuff in these videos. If you are interested in 'secret Bible codes,' you will find these videos fascinating.

And I have also spent some time reading and listening to material by Dr. Gail Riplinger. In one of her lectures she talks about a secret code found in the Old Testament that, if true, is mind boggling (check out: Errors in New Bible Translations,  where she cites a research paper titled Equidistant Letter Sequence in the Book of Genesis).

There is a new "Bible Code" theory in the news today: 'Secret Code' Used to Bury Bad News is Discovered in the Bible and is Called the 'Genesis Death Sandwich.' Although this 'code' is not the same as the Bible code talked about by Dr. Missler and referred to by Dr. Riplinger, it is making the news nonetheless.

I've read enough about 'Bible Codes' to know that it is not all bogus (although most of it probably is!). But unless studying secret Bible codes leads you to love our Lord Jesus more, and obey him more, then you would probably profit more by studying the TV Guide (although I don't recommend that: see my recent Post, Americans and TV: An Update on 'The Devil's Vision').

Rather than spending your time reading about secret Bible codes, why don't you check out the following sermons by Dr. David Murray:

Just for Fun: Watch 'Ban this Song!'

Humor has its place. The Bible says "A merry heart doeth good like a medicine, but a broken spirit drieth the bones." (Proverbs 17:22). I don't think the Sunday morning worship service is the place to be cracking jokes (check out Serious Preaching in a Comedy Culture, by Dr. David Murray). But it is good to laugh from time to time.

So I want to point you to a video that I think will make you laugh:

Barack Obama: The Liar’s Liar

Barack Obama: the Liar’s Liar - The New American

"If I had to credit Barack Obama with one thing, it would be knowing his market. He understands that with an America so dumbed-down, and a media so prostrate before him, he can get away with lies previous presidents wouldn’t dare contemplate. A good example — but far from the worst — is the current battle over sequestration, a fancy word for fantasy budget cuts. Obama has been engaging in demagoguery, blaming Republicans for these impending “cuts,” calling them “brutal” and a “meat cleaver” approach. What is the truth? Sequestration was Obama’s idea."

The Daily Spurgeon - February 23, 2013

Quotes by Pastor Charles Haddon Spurgeon (1834 - 1892)

"It is when Satan finds the heart tender that he tries to stamp his own impress of infidelity upon the soul; but, blessed be God, he never accomplishes it in the truly coming sinner. He labours also to inject blasphemous thoughts, and then tells us they are ours. Has he not sometimes poured in most vehement torrents of blasphemy and evil imaginations into our hearts, which we ignorantly thought must be our own? Yet not one of them perhaps belonged to us. I remember I had once been alone musing on God, when on a sudden it seemed as if the floodgates of hell had been loosened; my head became a very pandemonium; ten thousand evil spirits seemed to be holding carnival within my brain; and I held my mouth lest I should give utterance to the words of blasphemy that were poured into my ears. Things I had never heard or thought of before came rushing impetuously into my mind, and I could scarce withstand their influence. It was the devil throwing me down and tearing me. Ah! poor soul, thou wilt have that perhaps; but remember it is only one of the tricks of the arch-enemy. He drives his unclean beasts into your field and then calls them yours. Now, in old time, when tramps and vagrants troubled a parish, they whipped them and then sent them on to the next parish. So when you get these evil thoughts, give them a sound whipping and send them away; they do not belong to you if you do not indulge them. But if you fear that these thoughts are your own, you may say, 'I will go to Christ, and even if these blasphemies are mine I will confess them to the great High Priest, for I know that all manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men.'"(The Comer's Conflict with Satan)

Quotes by Pastor Charles Haddon Spurgeon (1834 - 1892)

"There now,' says the evil one, 'the minister said there must be an effectual call; depend upon it yours is not such a call; it never came from God; it is only a few heated feelings; you were excited a little under the sermon, and it will all be gone directly, like the morning cloud or the early dew. You have strong desires sometimes, but at other seasons they are not half so vehement; if the Lord drew you, you would be always drawn with the same power; it will be over soon, and you will be all the worse for having been inclined to go to God under these legal convictions, and then, afterwards, running away from him.' Well, beloved, tell Satan that you don't know whether it is an effectual call, but you know this, that if you perish you will go to Christ and perish only there; tell him you know it is so effectual that you cannot help going to Christ; that whether it is to last or not you cannot say, that you will let him know by-and-bye; but that you are resolved (for this is your last defense), if you perish, to perish at the cross of Christ;"(The Comer's Conflict with Satan)

Politico's VandeHei and Allen: Why We're Obama's Lapdogs

Politico's VandeHei and Allen: Why We're Obama's Lapdogs:

"Politico's Jim VandeHei and Mike Allen (VandeAllen) must have recently woke up feeling a little dirty about themselves and their chosen profession. Maybe it was due to Obama not leaving any money on the dresser this weekend. Whatever the motivation, it is fun to read their long, rambling rationalization for why they, their awful publication, and the media as a whole have spent the last four years willingly assuming the position of Obama's footstool."

Why Should I Become A Christian?

If you are like me, you keep a To Do list.  I would like you to consider squeezing in about 30 minutes to listen to this very important sermon by Dr. David Murray:

12 Reasons to Be a Christian

The text for this sermon is Acts 26:28.  The Apostle Paul is standing before King Agrippa, and the King says to Paul:

"Almost Persuaded thou me to become a Christian."

Hymn writer Philip Bliss (1838-1876) wrote the following hymn based on this verse:

1.  Almost persuaded, now to believe
Almost persuaded, Christ to receive;
Seams now some soul to say,
Go, Spirit, go Thy way.
Some more convenient day
on Thee, I'll call.

2. Almost persuaded, come, come today;
Almost persuaded, turn not away;
Jesus invites you here,
Angels are lingering near,
Prayers rise from hearts so dear,
Come, wanderer, come.

3. Almost persuaded, Harvest is past!
Almost persuaded, doom comes at last.
Almost cannot avail,
Almost is but to fail,
Sad, sad that bitter wail,
Almost but lost!

Introducing Dr. Walter Veith, Total Onslaught

I came across Dr. Walter Veith's series of DVDs, Total Onslaught, several years back. I have watched a number of these video, and while I can't recommend the religious ones (I think Dr. Veith is, or leans toward Seventh Day Adventism), I would like to post links to a few of his political videos.

I first learned about the conspiracy Dr.Veith talks about in the mid 1970s, and while I think some of what he has to say goes too far, there is enough information in the following videos that corresponds to my own 'conspiratorial' beliefs, that I feel good about recommending at least the following videos (see my post, Conspiracy Theory 101):

The Secret Behind Secret Societies
Hidden Agendas
Revolutions, Tyrants and Wars
A New World Order
The UN and the Occult Agenda
