I have always been fascinated by history. And so recently, I typed in "World History" on the YouTube site to see what it would bring up. It brought up many sites, but the one that caught my attention was this one:
History of the World in 2 Hours, by Bashkiria Today. Here is how this video begins:
"Everything that will ever exist, everything that will ever happen, all begins here, within this tiny bundle of energy, smaller than an atom. And now history as we know it is about to mysteriously begin. For reasons we may never know, our universe suddenly erupts. 'In a millionth of a millionth of a millionth of a millionth of a millionth of a millionth of a second, it went from the size of smaller than an atom to bigger than a galaxy'...Within a fraction of a second the Big Bang creates all the energy that will ever exist"
Or, to paraphrase that statement:
"In the beginning there was nothing. And then nothing exploded, and created everything we see."
It takes more faith to believe that statement than it does to believe Genesis 1:1:
"In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth."
Of course, not all scientist - even atheists - would agree with the description given above. For a cute poem that illustrates this, check out Ryle vs. Hoyle, by Barbara Gamow.
