Spotlight: A Review

I don't often recommend movies - in fact, I recommended people not watch them (See Dr. David P. Murray's great sermon: Should Christians Watch Movies?)

But Spotlight is a great movie that needs to be watched - both by Christians and non-Christians. For a great review of this movie, check out:

Spotlight Joins 'All the President's Men' in the Pantheon of Great Journalism Movies'

Excerpt from this article:

"It’s not a stretch to suggest that “Spotlight” is the finest newspaper movie of its era, joining “Citizen Kane” and “All the President’s Men” in the pantheon of classics of the genre."
--------------------------

The message of "Spotlight" is twofold:

1.  It is never OK to abuse a child (sexually or otherwise)
2.  It is never OK to cover up abuse of a child

Our Lord Jesus says:

"It is impossible but that offences will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come!
It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones." - Luke 17:1,2

Donald Trump's Muslim Ban Somehow Just Got Worse

Donald Trump's Muslim Ban Somehow Just Got Worse - motherjones.com

Excerpt from this article:

"Donald Trump told a Wisconsin town hall on Wednesday that his proposed ban on Muslims entering the United States would have an exception for the billionaire's rich friends. 'I have actually—believe it or not—I have a lot of friends that are Muslim and they call me,' Trump said... 'In most cases, they're very rich Muslims, okay?' Matthews then asked Trump if his rich Muslim friends would be able enter the country under Trump's Muslim ban. 'They'll come in,' Trump said. 'You'll have exceptions.'"

Bible Reading for Wednesday, March 30, 2016

There are many different websites that offer reading plans to read the Bible in a year. Here is a really good one:  Read the KJV Bible in One Year. For today, why don't you read along with me Chapters  13-16 in the book of Revelation.

Special verses:

"And he causeth all, both small and great , rich and poor , free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand , or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell , save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.  Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six." - Revelation 13:16-18

"And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:  And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name." - Revelation 14:9-11

There are many different websites that offer reading plans to read the Bible in a year. Here is a really good one:  Read the KJV Bible in One Year. For today, why don't you read along with me Chapters 9-12 in the book of Revelation.

Special verses:

"And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die , and death shall flee from them." - Revelation 9:6

"And the seventh angel sounded ; and there were great voices in heaven, saying , The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever." - Revelation 11:15

"And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down , which accused them before our God day and night. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.  Therefore rejoice , ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time." - Revelation 12:10-12

There are many different websites that offer reading plans to read the Bible in a year. Here is a really good one:  Read the KJV Bible in One Year. For today, why don't you read along with me the short books of 2nd and 3rd John and Jude.

Special verses:

"If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds." - 2 John 10,11

"Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth." - 3 John 2

"And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day." - Jude 6

"Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee." - Jude 9

"And of some have compassion, making a difference: And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh. Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen." Jude 22-25

The War On Cash and the Mark of the Beast

Doug Casey: War on Cash: "We Are Truly on the Edge of a Precipice" - lewrockwell.com

Excerpt from this article:

"And it’s not just governments....Large corporations, too. They are all members of the Deep State; they work hand-in-glove with the government...But governments invented paper money and passed laws forcing people to use it instead of gold and silver. Why would they want to abolish it now?...If you can’t use cash, everything has to go through the banking system. Everything that goes through the banking system, of course, is extremely easy for the state to track."

Bible Reading for Friday, March 25, 2016

There are many different websites that offer reading plans to read the Bible in a year. Here is a really good one:  Read the KJV Bible in One Year. For today, why don't you read along with me chapters  1-5 in the book of 1 John..

Special verses:

"If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us." - 1 John 1:6-10

"My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him." - 1 John 2:1-4

"Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever." - 1 John 2:15-17

"Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son." - 1 John 2:22

"Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God." - 1 John 3:1

"But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?" - 1 John 3:17

"Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world." - 1 John  4:1

"He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love." - 1 John 4:8

"For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one." - 1 John 5:7

"And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness." - 1 John 5:19

Note: If you have a reading disability that makes it difficult or impossible to read along with me this year, please consider going to Biblegateway.com and listening to the Bible. This is a great site with many resources, one of which is an audio version of the Bible Daily.

Another ISIS Attack: Teen Suicide Bomber Kills 65 in Baghdad - truthrevolt.org

Excerpt from this article:

"ISIS has claimed responsibility for yet another attack this week; this time by a teenage suicide bomber who blew himself up in the middle of a crowd watching a soccer game at a stadium in Baghdad. The death toll at this point is reported at 65 with over 60 people injured. According to the AFP, the trophies were being handed to the winners as the explosive vest was detonated."

Why does the media call these guys (and gals!) "Suicide bombers?"  Why not call them mass murders instead?

Excerpt from this article:

“From the very beginning, God has given us moral laws governing the subject of sex that are absolute and unchangeable,” said Pastor Billy Graham in a radio broadcast that was re-published in the September issue of Decision magazine.  'Nowhere does the Bible teach that sex in itself is a sin. But from Genesis to Revelation, the Bible condemns the wrong use of sex.''According to the Bible, morals are not relative. They are absolute,'" said Pastor Graham.

Pornography Use & Teens, by Mohan Krishna

Excerpt from this podcast:

"The article states that the number of searches for Internet pornography exponentially increases every second. If the rapidly changing online porn ticker represented increasing stock value there would be thousands possibly millions of overnight millionaires Instead the ticker indicates an insatiable appitite for sexually explicit pornography and a high percentages of those searching are teenagers."

Dealing With Lust, by Pastor Robert McCurley

This sermon is from the following text:

"Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.
And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.
It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement:
But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery."
