Evangelicals' Misplaced Priorities

Evangelicals' Misplaced Priorities, by Adam McManus (Worldview in Five Minutes)

Quote for Tuesday, October 1, 2019

"Along with several colleagues, I had to pick up the corpses from the square and take them to a large trench that has been dug out by bulldozers. Whether dead or merely wounded, all were thrown into the trench. A 'Mercy Shot' for the wounded was a rarity. From time to time the trenches were sprayed by machine-gun fire; many corpse carriers lost their lives that way.

"We were chased and driven on in our grim work by SS guards who had a drink in one hand and a truncheon or pistol in the other. Trembling from terror and agitation, thirsty, with shaking legs, half-crazy from pain and fear, we had to complete our work with the most gruesome images before our eyes. Even now I am horrified by the memory of SS men grabbing small children by the feet and killing them by smashing them against tree trunks, often before the eyes of their sobbing and wailing mothers."- from History Firsthand: The Holocaust: Death Camps, edited by Tamara L. Roleff

"Hell from beneath is moved for thee to meet thee at thy coming: it stirreth up the dead for thee, even all the chief ones of the earth; it hath raised up from their thrones all the kings of the nations. All they shall speak and say unto thee, Art thou also become weak as we? art thou become like unto us? Thy pomp is brought down to the grave, and the noise of thy viols: the worm is spread under thee, and the worms cover thee."

The "Skinny" on rBST laced Lattes!

The following is from the book, Science Left Behind - Feel-Good Fallacies and the Rise of the Anti-Science Left, by Alex B. Berezow and Hank Campbell

"One day, co-author Alex was in a Seattle coffee shop that proudly and prominently displayed the fact that it used only rBST-free milk...Contrary to what its name might suggest, injecting cows with this hormone simply makes them produce more milk, instead of growing into super-sized cows.

"Alex was curious why rBST-free milk was such a big deal to this cafe owner, so he asked. 'A little intemperately she responded, 'Do you know where milk comes from?' Stunned by her condescension to a paying customer, Alex (a PhD in microbiology) patiently listened as she went on a diatribe about how hormones injected into the cow ultimately end up in the milk. She insisted that these nasty hormones were bad for human health - and she wouldn't be caught dead serving lattes with rBST milk.

"...everything the cafe proprietor said was factually incorrect. The most obvious problem with her argument is that everything,  from vegetables to meat, has hormones in it - the label 'hormone-free' is completely bogus. Also, if you're reading these words, you are not a cow. Humans do not respond to cow growth hormones. According to researches at Cornell University, you could inject BST directly into your veins and nothing would happen."
