The Last Times and the Man of Sin

The Last Times and the Man of Sin, by Dr. Joel Beeke

The Text for this sermon is 2 Thessalonians 2:1-12 (Audio):

"Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,
2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.
3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.
5 Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?
6 And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.
7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.
8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:
9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness."

The God of the Bible Kills People, by Evangelist Rolfe Barnard  (1904-1969)

The Text for this sermon is Proverbs 29:1 (Audio)

"He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy."

Here is another sermon by Rolfe Barnard:

The Gospel in the Days of Antichrist

The text for this sermon is Revelation 14:1-10 (Audio):

"And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Zion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads.
2 And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder: and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps:
3 And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth.
4 These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb.
5 And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of God.
6 And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,
7 Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.
8 And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.
9 And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand,
10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:"

If all you know about Antichrist is from watching the Left Behind movies, why don't you check out the following sermon by Rev. John Sawtelle:

The 70 Weeks of Daniel

The Jew, Jerusalem, and the Abomination of Desolation

The Jew, Jerusalem, and the Abomination of Desolation, by Dr. Bert Cooke

This is a sermon - a good sermon. It was preached in 1990, but it sheds light on some current stories in the news:

Trump to Announce Jerusalem as Israel's Capital - jpost.com (December 4, 2017)

The Bible says:

"Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshiped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God." - 2 Thessalonians 2:3,4

and

"And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, to receive the mark in their right hand or in  their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. Here is wisdom, let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man; and his number is six hundred, three score and six." - Revelation 13:16-18

and

"And the third angel followed them, saying with a load voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead or in his hand, the same shall drink of the wrath of God which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation. And he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up forever and ever. And they have no rest, day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name." - Revelation 14:9-11

Although I don't agree with everything in the Left Behind movies (and books) - specifically, the pre-tribulation rapture - I think they are worth watching - again!

Have You Got Your Chip Yet?

Why There's a Chip in Your New Debit and Credit Cards - komando.com

Excerpt from this article:

"Clearly, mankind now has the technology to link up virtually all the credit in the entire civilized world from the local retail outlet right through to the international banking center. So, it would not be too difficult, technologically, to move from the smart card to a microchip implanted in the hand. This could be read by a laser-type device that would in turn be connected to a master computer. This could lead to a time when there would be no need for cash or checks: Everything would be done by computer."
-----------------------------

I'm sure the new "chip enabled" debit and credit cards will are not the Mark of the Beast that the Apostle John wrote about 2000 years ago. Even if the number on the from had "666" in it, that still wouldn't make it the Mark of the Beast (although it would make it just a little more creepy!).

Final Destination: Flight 666 Makes Last Trip to Hel on Friday the 13th - thedailysheeple.com

Excerpt from this article:

"Finnair flight 666 has made its last ever journey to ‘HEL’ this Friday the 13th after 21 previous daring trips on the superstitious date. The flight from Copenhagen to Helsinki departed at 1.28 pm local time, arriving in the Finnish capital eight minutes ahead of schedule at 3.47 pm."
-------------------------------------

Hel (Hell), 666, and Friday the 13th are no laughing matter. OK, you can go ahead and laugh about Friday the 13, but the number 666 and Hell should not be taken lightly. The Bible says:

"And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six." - Revelation 13:16-18

And

"And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name."

More Americans Than Ever Are Losing Their Religion - thedailysheeple.com

Excerpt from this article:

"Never before in U.S. history have so many Americans chosen to be unaffiliated with any particular religious group. As you will see below, the percentage of 'nones' in this country has absolutely skyrocketed over the past decade."
--------------------------------------

Two Thousand years ago the Apostle Paul  wrote a  prophecy concerning a future "Man of Sin," or "Son of Perdition," or "Antichrist". Paul wrote:

"Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshiped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?" - 2 Thessalonians 2:3,4
--------------------------

"Except there come a falling away first..."

A few decades after the Apostle Paul wrote those words, another Apostle, John, wrote the Book of Revelation. One of the many prophecies contained in this book as to do with the antichrist and the Mark of the Beast. Revelation 13:16-18 says:

And they have no rest, day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name." - Revelation 14:9-11

How About A Left Behind Marathon?

Left Behind
Tribulation Force
World At War

I don't agree with everything in these movies, although the gospel is there and I think they are especially worth watching (again!) as we continue to see our world unravel before our eyes.

Here is wisdom, let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man; and his number is six hundred, three score and six." - Revelation 13:16-18

and
