End of an Era: Rolling Stones is Up For Sale

End of an Era: Rolling Stones is Up For Sale (Financial Pressures Were Too Tough for Independent Publisher)- newer.com

Excerpt from this article:

"Trailblazing editor Jann Wenner, 71, tells the New York Times he is making way for new blood by hawking his 51% controlling stake in the magazine. "I love my job,” says Wenner, but selling is "just the smart thing to do."

Well, on the plus side, Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau got his picture on the cover of the Rolling Stone before the founding (Capitalist) editor bailed! Check out the following article from americanthinker.com:

Anyone Remember when Rolling Stone Was About Music?

Excerpt from this article:

"Rolling Stone magazine is going on the auction block after nearly 50 years in business. Well, good riddance.
Once upon a time, it was an exciting magazine where one could go to learn about music and its scenes.  It stopped being that around the time it started putting Bill Clinton on its covers – again and again – and became a political groupie's magazine."

It would be fitting to have Joseph M. Schimmel on the final cover (if there is a final cover) of the Rolling Stones magazine. His 10 hour DVD, They Sold Their Souls for Rock and Roll, gives a good overview what this magazine has been promoting over the years.

Caution: This is a very long, very graphic video. I asked a Christian friend to watch it, and he could only watch for about 15 minutes before he asked me to turn it off. You've been warned! Anyway, here is a short clip that is on You Tube:

They Sold Their Souls for Rock and Roll, Part 1 of 5

One of the criticisms of Contemporary Christian Music (CCM) is that it is just rock music with Christian lyrics. I'm thinking of  Superchick's Cross That Line and Apologetix's That Old Time Romans Road But there are a lot of contemporary Christian songs that could fit right into a traditional hymnbook. Songs like (Because He Lives, How Deep the Father's Love for Us, El Shaddai, and Hallelujah! could easily fit right into a a traditional Christian hymnal.

If you are not familiar with old time christian hymns, why don't you check out My Internet Hymnbook?
