I Saw the Dead, by Dr. David P. Murray
The text for this sermon is Revelation 20:12:
"And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works."

Pastor Charles Haddon Spurgeon passed away on January 31, 1892 - 125 years before Hugh Hefner passed away. On the surface, one might say that these two men had very little in common. And they would be right. But one thing they both have in common is they both have to stand before our Lord Jesus Christ and give account of their lives.
I can almost hear our Lord Jesus said to Pastor Spurgeon, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant. Enter into the joy of thy Lord." And I can hear Pastor Spurgeon - seeing Hugh Hefner - say:
"I picture myself standing at the bar of God.… I see you standing in the
midst of that throng, and the eye of God is fixed on you. It seems to
you that he is not looking anywhere else, but only upon you, and he
summons you before him; and he reads your sins, and he cries, "Depart ye
cursed into everlasting fire in hell!'" (From Spurgeon's sermon Compel Them to Come In!)
