One of the things I like to do is read the obituaries in the local paper. I'm only looking for one thing: does the obituary make any mention at all of our Lord Jesus. I don't really care what church affiliation they may have had while they were alive - that's between them and Jesus at this point.

But I feel a little sad when I read an obituary that talks only about all of the things the deceased accomplished: college degrees earned, successful businesses they've owned, world-wide travel they've done and charities they've contributed to.

All of that is great, but if our Lord Jesus was not a part of that person's life, they've lived a wasted life. Why don't you listen to the following sermons by Dr. Ian Brown and Dr. Joel Beeke to make sure you make the most of your short time here on earth:
