Louisiana Flooding: Over 86,000 People Seek Help After 40,000 Homes Are Destroyed in Historic Flood - christianpost.com

Excerpt from this article:

"'Within 36 hours, more than 27 inches of rain fell in Baker, just northeast of Baton Rouge, and directly into the Amite River. In less time, Southern Baptist Disaster Relief volunteers were serving survivors with compassion in the face of crisis. They are right now delivering clean, safe water, warm nutritious meals and the love of Christ as they seek to advance the Gospel,' said an appeal on the website of the Southern Baptist Convention. 'You can help the survivors, and the disaster relief volunteers providing aid, today with a generous gift that will help bring healing and the hope of the Gospel. Please prayerfully consider how you can help now,' it urged."

Our Lord Jesus said: "Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me."  Matthew 25:40

Please consider making a donation to help the people in Louisiana affected by this devastating flood. In addition to the Southern Baptist Disaster Relief mentioned in this article, you can also donate to Samaritans Purse who are providing much needed help to those effected by this flood:  Samaritan's Purse

Recommended sermon:

Amos 3, by Rev. Cornelis Pronk

-Note:  Even though this sermon was preached in 1978, it remains on of my favorite sermons. The text for this sermon is Amos 3:8: " The Lion hath roared, who shall not fear. The Lord God hath spoken, who can but prophecy?" And the context that prompted Rev. Pronk to preach this sermon was not unlike what is going on with the flooding in Louisiana. It was a major snow storm of historic magnitude that hit the middle part of America in 1978.

No, Rev. Pronk does not infer that you can draw direct parallels between "natural disasters' and specific sins of those effected. But nevertheless, when these disasters hit, they should give us an opportunity to stop and reflect on what God may be saying to us personally - and as a nation.  We are all only one heartbeat away from eternity.
