Thoughts for Wednesday, April 18, 2018

"Our only hope is in a soverign, electing, loving fatherly God, who gave his only son to suffer and die for the elect, for we are all accountable for our sin, and deserving of God's eternal wrath. Without election, no one would be saved. Spurgeon summarizes this well: 'From the Word of God I gather that damnation is all of man, from top to bottom, and salvation is all of grace, from first to last. He that perishes chooses to perish; but he that is saved is saved because God choses to save him.' In other words, God gets all the glory in salvation, and man gets all the blame in damnation."
