History: 4 Things That Happened on August 14

1. 1919: Court finds Chicago Tribune Guilty of libel for calling Henry Ford an Anarchist. Awards trial cost and 6 cents in damages (Chronicle of the 20th)

2. 1935: Franklin D. Roosevelt Signed into law the Social Security Act creating a government pension system for he retired (Source)

A good friend of mine recently expressed his opinion that Social Security was not welfare. People paid into Social Security for years and now are just collecting their own money. I told him that was not entirely accurate. It's true that is how the Social Security tax was sold to the public. And that should have been how it worked.

But the same people who paid into Social Security all these years also voted into office worthless politicians who repeatedly stole from the Social Security fund.  Someday, the younger generation is going to catch on and refuse to pay into The Most Successful Ponzi Scheme in History!

The following quote is taken from the book Deep Truth: The Lives of Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein. In this book the author makes the case theat Bob Woodward may have had ties to the CIA, and that Nixon's downfall may have been part of a CIA operation, just like the assassination of John F. Kennedy was: And just like the attempt to bring down President Trump is today!

"Whenever you run a clandestine operation, you run two things at the same time: you prepare the team for the hit, and you keep it so small there's nobody to spread it all around. And across the hall is a big staff working on what we call special plans. They're preparing the cover story. The cover story is what they want people to believe and to talk about, and to argue about." - From a 1992 speech by Col. Fletcher Prouty, former chief of special operations, Joint Chief of Staff
