"Charles Pierce, terrible criminal and a murderer, was being led to be punished capitally for his crimes. There was a Chaplain trying to minister to him and tell him about the power of Christ to save, even then. Charles Peirce turned to the Chaplain and said, 'Do you believe that? Do you really believe that? If I believed that I would crawl over broken glass to tell men it was true!"
