First, a quick review of American History. In 1823 President James Monroe came out with "The Monroe Doctrine." According to Simple English Wikipedia, this went as follows:
"European powers do not belong in the Americas."
Now, on to Patrick Buchanan's article in cnsnews.com:
The Palin Doctrine:
"On U.S. military intervention in Syria's civil war, where 'both sides are slaughtering each other as they scream over an arbitrary red line 'Allahu akbar' ... I say let Allah sort it out.' So said Sarah Palin to the Faith and Freedom Coalition conference. And, as is not infrequently the case, she nailed it... Four fundamental changes make it 'no longer realistic, or even desirable, for the US to dominate' the Middle East as we did from the Suez crisis of 1956 through the Iraq invasion of 2003. The four changes: the failures of the Afghanistan and Iraq wars, the Great Recession, the Arab Spring and emerging U.S. energy independence."

What Are We Fighting For? Country Joe
Note: Please pardon the profanity by Country Joe, but in light of the 58,000 American soldiers who threw their lives away in Vietnam (1965 - 1975) it is hard not to swear. President Obama says "You can't fathom the complexities of Syrian Policy if you have not been in the Situation Room." I say, forget the Situation Room. You will learn a more about America's policy in Syria (and Afganistan, Iraq, Iran, etc.) by reading the original version of None Dare Call it Treason than if you spent 4 years in the Situation Room!
