Why Do the North Koreans Hate the U.S.? - One Reason - They Remember the Korean War

Mehdi Hasan: Why Do the North Koreans Hate the U.S.? - One Reason -  They Remember the Korean War - lewrockwell.com

Excerpt from this article:

"For the record, it was the North Koreans, and not the Americans or their South Korean allies, who started the war in June 1950, when they crossed the 38th Parallel and invaded the south. Nevertheless, 'What hardly any Americans know or remember,' University of Chicago historian Bruce Cumings writes in his book 'The Korean War: A History,' 'is that we carpet-bombed the north for three years with next to no concern for civilian casualties.' How many Americans, for example, are aware of the fact that U.S. planes dropped on the Korean peninsula more bombs — 635,000 tons — and napalm — 32,557 tons — than during the entire Pacific campaign against the Japanese during World War II? How many Americans know that 'over a period of three years or so,' to quote Air Force Gen. Curtis LeMay, head of the Strategic Air Command during the Korean War, 'we killed off … 20 percent of the population'”? (my emphasis)

I was in my mid teens when the pop group Paper Lace came out with Billy Don't Be A Hero (Don't Be a Fool With Your Life). I remember my mother saying she thought it was a horrible song that encouraged people to dodge the draft.

Well, my mom went home to be with her Lord many years ago, but I would guess if she had read the following books, articles and blog posts, she would not have been so gung-ho about America's involvement in Vietnam (or Korea!). In fact, she may have even attended Woodstock in 1968 to hear Country Joe sing his What Are We Fightin For?

The Crime of Vietnam

Laurence M. Vance: The Crime of Vietnam - lewrockwell.com

Excerpt from this article:

"The American War in Vietnam: Crime or Commemoration? was written in response to this Commemoration. It challenges 'the official story that will be taught about the American war in Vietnam.' But it also does so much more. It argues that the Vietnam War was unjust, dishonorable, 'a violation of international law,' and 'a criminal act of aggression.' And how could it not be since the U.S. military destroyed 9,000 out of 15,000 Vietnamese hamlets, 25 million acres of farmland, and 12 million acres of forest; dropped twice as many bombs on Vietnam than used by the United States in all of World War II; sprayed 20 million gallons of herbicides that poisoned the land; made millions of refugees, a million widows, 300,000 orphans and another 500,000 children who lost one parent, 200,000 prostitutes, and 180,000 disabled; and killed over 3 million Vietnamese—none of whom were a threat in any way to a single American or a single blade of grass in America?"

The Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) have their fingers all over the war in Vietnam. And President Trump just picked a "CFR Member for New National Security Advisor." And now it appears that we're gearing up to go to war with Russia!
