Mom Scolded for Letting 4-Year Old Eat PB&J Sandwhich in Shopping Cart

Mom Who Let 4-Year-Old Eat PB&J Sandwhich in Shopping Cart Branded a Monster by Parenting Forum - sfgate.com

Excerpt from this article:

"Is it OK to let your child eat peanut butter at Target? A mother on a New York parenting blog wrote Monday that while shopping at the store, she gave her four-year-old daughter a peanut butter and jelly sandwhich, and 'a woman stopped me to lecture me about peanut allergies.' The child's mother then asked other moms on UrbanBaby if it was now unacceptable to eat peanut butter in public. If your reaction is of course not, it's a free country, you are definitely siding with the minority. The anti-peanut butter backlash was swift and brutal." (My emphasis)

And when you take your chid to a public bathroom, you may want to teach them to dry their hands on their clothes rather than use the hand dryers! (See: Bathroom Hand Dryers Spay Feces Particles On Your Hands, Study Says)

It's probably a good practice for parents (or store employees) to wipe down shopping carts  - before and after using them - with a good disinfectant. And maybe it would be a good idea to eat the peanut butter sandwich before entering the store!

But there is another side to this story. Check out the following article from the National Institute of Health:

Peanut Allergy: Early Exposure is Key to Prevention
