Pentagon: U.S. Troops Keep Getting "Fatter" and "Fatter" - dailycaller.com
Excerpt from this article:
"In terms of data, 7.8% of the military is overweight, which
represents a staggering rise from 1.6% in 2001. Pentagon officials are
divided over whether the rising overweight rate in the military is a
threat to the security of the U.S. The statistic is derived from the
Body Mass Index of U.S. troops.
'If I have to climb up to the top of a mountain in Nuristan, in
Afghanistan, and if I have someone who is classified as clinically
obese, they are potentially going to be a liability for me on that
patrol,' the U.S. Army’s top Non-Commissioned Officer cautioned in a statement to Military Times."

Does Anyone Really Believe the Pentagon "Lost" $6.5 Trillion Dollars? / The Horrific Bubble of US Military Spending
Note: Below are excerpts from 2 (totally unrelated?) articles on military spending:

Nick Giambruno: Doug Casey on the US Military - lewrockwell.com
Excerpt from this article:
"The U.S. currently spends more on 'defense' than the next seven governments combined… At one point recently, it was more than the rest of the world combined. But who really knows, since Pentagon accounting is so inaccurate and corrupt?"
------------------------------------------
Recently a friend of mine and I were discussing politics and the subject of military spending came up. Another friend, a military vet, butted in to our conversation and said: "You don't cut military spending. Ever!" And then he stormed out of the room.
I'm not opposed to the US having a strong military. As Benjamin Franklin once said, "If we make ourselves sheep, the wolves will eat us." But America has been footing the bill to be the world's policeman for too long. And what are we getting for our money?

Tara West: $6.5 Trillion in Army Funds Unaccounted: Pentagon Has Never Completed an Audit Despite 20 Year Old Federal Mandate [Video]- inquisitr.com
Excerpt from this article:
"Despite a 20-year-old federal mandate
requiring all federal agencies to conduct regular financial audits, the
Pentagon has never been in compliance with this law. However, that
hasn’t stopped trillions of dollars from funneling into the Pentagon’s
Army general fund with taxpayers footing the bill...The missing trillions means that the Army would be unable
to pass an audit, and many of the organization’s bookkeepers say that
the findings are not surprising."
