The God of the Bible Kills People [Video]

The God of the Bible Kills People [Video], by Evangelist Rolfe Barnard (1904-1969)

Scientists to Beam Messages to Aliens (We Are Emphasizing the Essentials of Math and Physics) - wnd.com

Excerpt from this article:

"Douglas Vakoch, president of METI International, is leading a research group that’s determined to send messages to extraterrestrials. Vakoch’s team has faced opposition from some in the Search For Extraterrestrial Intelligence, or SETI, community. In February 2015, 28 top SETI scientists published a letter warning of the dangers of reaching out to alien life forms."

While the good folks at METI and SETI are busy playing in their Sci-Fy sandbox, why don't you sit back and listen to a real physicist?

Thoughts for Tuesday, September 26, 2017

Note: The following is from the book The Sinfulness of Sin, by Ralph Venning (1621-1673):

"It's as if sinners should say to the Lord on the Day of Judgment, 'Lord, have mercy on us.'
'Have mercy upon you?' says God. 'No, I will have no mercy upon you. There was a time when you might have had mercy without judgment, but now you shall have judgment without mercy. Depart! Depart!'
If they should then beg and say, 'Lord, if we must depart, let it be from Thy throne of judgement, but not from Thee.'
'No,' says the Lord. 'Depart from me. Depart from my presence, which is joy. Depart, and go to hell!'
'Lord,' they say, 'Seeing we must be gone, bless us before we go, so that Thy blessing may be upon us.'
'Oh no,' says God. 'Go with a curse. Depart ye cursed.'
'Oh Lord, if we must go from Thee, let it not be into the place of torment, but appoint a place, if not of pleasure, then of ease.'
'No, depart into fire, burning and tormenting flames.'
'Oh Lord, if into fire, let it only be for a little while. For who can dwell in everlasting burning?'
'No! Neither you nor the fire shall know an end. Be gone into everlasting fire.'
'Lord, then let it be long before we go there.'
No, depart immediately. The sentence shall be immediately put into execution.'
'Oh Lord, let us at least have good company who will pity us, though they cannot help us.'
'No, you shall have none but the tormenting devils. Those whom you obeyed when they were your tempters, shall be with you as tormentors.'
What misery sin has brought on man to bring him to hear this dreadful doom."

Gospel Sermons...For Such a Time as This!

Amos 3, by Rev. Cornlis (Neil) Pronk [Note: This sermon was preached in 1978 after a severe snowstorm in the Midwest. The text for this sermon is Amos 3:1-8, in particular, Amos 3:8: "The lion hath roared who shall not fear, the Lord God hath spoken, who can but prophecy?"!]

Our Nation Laid in God's Balance, by Dr. Joel Beeke [Text:Jeremiah 9:9: "Shall I not visit them for these things? saith the LORD: shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?"]

Drought, Storms, Fires: Is God Speaking to Us? by Dr. Peter Hammond [The text for this sermon is Isaiah 29:6: "Thou shalt be visited of the LORD of hosts with thunder, and with earthquake, and great noise, with storm and tempest, and the flame of devouring fire."]

Please note: There are a lot of worthy charitable organizations helping out in the wake of Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, Jose and Maria - not to mention the forest fires and the large earthquake in Mexico recently. The Christian organization I like to recommend is Samaritan's Purse!

Thoughts for Saturday & Sunday, September 23 & 24, 2017

"Maybe the prophets wanted the rich to invite the poor into their homes, maybe they wanted the poor to be befriended and supported by gentle arms of friends. Maybe friendliness. But at least justice, at least the rights of the poor respected."

"Love gives without counting the cost. Justice counts the cost to the penny."

"A baby born, through no choice of her own, into a poverty stricken family has a right to nourishing food, a warm bed, and loving care. But as she grows, she also has a need to flourish as a human being. She needs education and books, music, access to dentists and doctors, and a chance to develop her gifts for creative work."

"Law without love tells us not to kill a stranger; law with love moves us to go out of our way to help a wounded enemy."

Unprecedented Economic Depression Ahead - How Christians Prepare

Unprecedented Economic Depression Ahead - How Christians Prepare, by Pastor Kevin Swanson

Thought for Friday, September 22, 2017

"To the question, 'should one preach doctrine?' the Puritan answer would have been, 'Why? What else is there to preach?' Puritan preachers were not afraid to bring the profoundest theology into the pulpit if it bore on their hearers salvation...doctrinal preaching certainly bores the hypocrite; but it is only doctrinal preaching that will save Christ's sheep. The preacher's job is to proclaim the faith, not to provide entertainment for unbelievers. In other words, to feed the sheep and not amuse the goats."
- Dr. J. I. Packer
