Unless the New Fed Chair is Named "Math", His Views Are Irrelevant

Unless the New Fed Chair is Named "Math",  His Views Are Irrelevant - zerohedge.com

Excerpt from this article:

"According to the Wall Street Journal, Jerome Powell will be the next Fed Chair...However, at the end of the day, who leads the Fed is largely irrelevant. Regardless of your position on Fed policy, math is math. So let’s consider the math. The US finances its budget via taxes. If taxes don’t cover the budget, the US must issue debt. This has been the game for 40+ years. Today, the US has $20 trillion in sovereign debt."

Talk show host and constitutional scholar Mark Levin has said:

"You should view these politicians with the deepest contempt you can possibly imagine.  What they are doing to this country, what they are doing to our finances - there is not a criminal in any federal prison, state prison, city or county jail with respect to financial crimes of any sort who collectively could have done the kind of damage that Barack Obama and Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi and yes, willing, timid, gutless Republicans have done to this country! To your future, to your children and your grandchildren. What they are doing is with malice and with forethought." (emphasis mine) (source)

Someone once wrote:

"A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the majority discover it can vote itself largess out of the public treasury. After that, the majority always votes for the candidate promising the most benefits with the result the democracy collapses because of the loose fiscal policy ensuing, always to be followed by a dictatorship and then  a monarchy." Excerpt from this article:

"The president and I are determined to address conditions in El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras and help these countries on their path to economic prosperity. To that end, we requested $1 billion in next year’s budget to help Central America’s leaders make the difficult reforms and investments required to put the region on a more stable and sustainable path."

Treasury Sec. Lew Urges Congress to Raise Debt Ceiling by Late February

Treasury Sec. Lew Urges Congress to Raise Debt Ceiling by Late February - bloomberg.com

"Treasury Secretary Jacob J. Lew urged Congress to raise the debt ceiling by Feb. 7 and “certainly” before late next month to ensure the stability of the U.S. economy and financial system.
The Congress last year suspended the limit until Feb. 7. If lawmakers don’t increase the ceiling or suspend it again by that date, the Treasury will have to use special steps to continue selling debt. Lew reiterated in a letter to Congress today that the department will most likely exhaust those extraordinary measures in late February."
