Quote for Friday, November 29, 2019

From a sermon by Rev. Paul den Butter:

“We must humble ourselves. Humble? Why? Well, congregation, do you know what the only thing is that you can lay claim to? The only thing we can claim is sin! That’s all we have done. And all the rest is a gift from God. Be it a gift from his common grace or a gift from his special grace, but everything else but sin in our lives comes from God. And all we have ever done, all we have ever produced is sin. Oh what a painful thing to discover. There was never an area in your life that was untouched by sin.”
