Obama says Government Will Respond 'Big and Fast' to Hurricane Sandy
"You never let a serious crisis go to waste. And what I mean by that [is] it's an opportunity to do things you could not do before." - Rahm Emanuel, President Obama's Chief of Staff from 2009 - 2010.
The East Coast is preparing for Hurricane Sandy - some call it a Frankenstorm, because of it's size. Presidential candidate Romney has already begun cashing in on this storm to help him win the White House next month (see As Hurricane Messes with Election, Romney Campaign Uses Bus for Relief)
Not to be outdone, President Obama says The government will respond 'big and fast': "President Obama met Sunday with Federal Emergency Management Officials in Washington. 'We will cut through red tape,' he said. 'We are not going to get bogged down with a lot of rules."
If you are living on the East Coast right now, those words may seam like an early Christmas present. But many people get nervous when they hear a President, especially Mr. Obama, talking about 'cutting through red tape' and 'not getting bogged down with a lot of rules.'
In fact, some might even go as far as to translate Mr. Obama's words to say: "We will cut through the Bill of Rights and we are not going to get bogged down with the Constitution."
