McDonald's to McWorkers: Beware of Fast Food

McDonald's to Workers: Beware of Fast Food - newser.com

Excerpt from this article:

"It's hard to have a healthy diet when you often eat at fast food joints, according to sensible dietary advice posted in an unlikely place: McDonald's own employee resources website. 'Fast foods are typically high in calories, fat, saturated fat, sugar, and salt and may put people at risk for becoming overweight,' warns the website, which labels a picture of a cheeseburger, fries, and soda 'the unhealthy choice' ..."

It's good that McDonald's is warning its employees of the dangers of eating fast food. Perhaps, rather than give them a raise, McDonald's could just give them a copy of the following book this Christmas:

Low Fast Food Wages Supplemented by Billions in Gov't Welfare - Report

Low Fast Food Wages Supplemented by Billions in Gov't Welfare - Report - rt.com

"Over half of US workers employed by fast food restaurants rely on public assistance because their meager paychecks do not cover basic needs. The aid costs American taxpayers billions of dollars each year, according to a new report. The average American fast food worker earns $8.69 an hour and regularly works less than 40 hours a week, qualifying them for a variety of government benefits. Fifty-two percent of families that include a fast food worker receive food stamps, Medicaid, or are eligible for the Earned Income Tax Credit and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families. Compare that sum with the 25 percent of families eligible for those assistance programs from the overall workforce.

How Much Money Would You Pay for A Big Mac?

The Fast Food Protests | Tom Woods:

"Fast-food workers have begun protesting their low wages. (Yes, I know fast food isn’t good for you, but that’s immaterial here.) 'We are worth more,' their signs read. Are they? How can they know? If they were worth more, other firms would have captured their extra worth by bidding them away from the fast-food industry and hiring them themselves. Then we can know they were 'worth more,' at least in some other line of production. Since no one else seems willing to hire them at their current wage rate, it seems to me that the very last institutions they should be angry at are the fast-food restaurants themselves, the only institutions on earth doing anything to improve their standard of living. Why don’t they protest all the places that pay them $0, having refused to hire them at all?"
