"I Work At McDonalds, But I Can't Afford to Eat There!"

"I Work At McDonalds, But I Can't Afford to Eat There!" - zerohedge.com

Excerpt from this article:

"For Shawndraka Mack, a 100% pay rise from her current $7.60 'would do just fine.' While some employees turn to blood plasma donation, and most are on food stamps (and other benefits), the mother of two teenagers (on Medicaid) told Bloomberg Businessweek, 'I love what I do, but I don’t want to work for nothing.' Between the 40 hours a week she works and the benefits, Mack explains, 'I work at McDonald’s and I can’t afford to eat there. It’s crazy'.”
----------------------

If McDonald's raises the wages of all their employees to $15 an hour, none of the rest of us will be able to eat there either. And then McDonald's will go out of business. And then all those workers at McDonald's would be out of work. That's the bad news.

But the good news is this: If McDonald's goes out of business, because they can't afford to pay their employees $15 an hour and still make a profit, that would leave a very big market to be filled by potential entrepreneurs who may want to start their own fast food joint. Of course, these entrepreneurs would want to pay their employees at least $15 an hour to start, so their burgers might be a little pricey!

Low Fast Food Wages Supplemented by Billions in Gov't Welfare - Report

Low Fast Food Wages Supplemented by Billions in Gov't Welfare - Report - rt.com

"Over half of US workers employed by fast food restaurants rely on public assistance because their meager paychecks do not cover basic needs. The aid costs American taxpayers billions of dollars each year, according to a new report. The average American fast food worker earns $8.69 an hour and regularly works less than 40 hours a week, qualifying them for a variety of government benefits. Fifty-two percent of families that include a fast food worker receive food stamps, Medicaid, or are eligible for the Earned Income Tax Credit and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families. Compare that sum with the 25 percent of families eligible for those assistance programs from the overall workforce.

American Dependency: "Give Me My Food Stamps!"

WATCH: American Dependency: "Give Me My Food Stamps":

"As of this week fully 25% of American households – about 48 million people – are dependent on government food stamps to put food on the table. The system is plagued with fraud on every level. Food stamp scams are rampant, with recipients often off-loading their monthly electronic benefit transfer cards for cash value. Mega lobbies spend tens of millions of dollars a year just to keep the pump primed and the funds flowing so that companies like Walmart and 7-11 can keep their revenues up. Big banks, including behemoths like JP Morgan, are cashing in by providing the processing facilities to make it happen. It’s a racket."

One of Every Five American Households on Food Stamps

One of Every Five American Households on Food Stamps:

"A record one out of every five American households, over 23 million in all, is now on food stamps. The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) revealed that the number of households in January, 2013 was 23,087,886 households, 889,154 more than the year before. There are 115,310,000 households in the United States."

I don't begrudge people receiving food stamps. I've been on food stamps in the past. If a person wants to work - and can't (for whatever reason), they should be able to look to their neighbors, their church, or even their government for help.

Of course, if a person does not want to work, that is another story. The Bible says: "If a man will not work, neither should he eat." - 2 Thessalonians 3:10.

But the real tragedy is not the people who are starving for food, it is the people that are starving for truth. Our Lord Jesus says: "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every Word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God." - Matthew 4:4.

"I'm On Welfare and I Vote - Go Obama!!!"

The Bible says: "If a man will not work, neither should he eat." (I Thessalonians 3:10). It doesn't say if a man cannot work he shouldn't eat. It says if he will not work he shouldn't eat. Please take some time to listen to Pastor Kevin Swanson's thought provoking message:

Report: 25 Percent of Disability Benefits Improperly Awarded

Report: 25 Percent of Disability Benefits Improperly Awarded:

I think the about article is incorrect - I think the number of people getting on Social Security Disability - inappropriately - far exceeds 25%. I think it is probably closer to 50%.

I spent close to 9 years in prison, but for the 9 years prior to that I worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant in long term care and acute care (hospital) settings. I'm not an expert on medicine, but I have gotten to know real disabled people. And many of the people getting on Social Security Disability today have no business being on it.

What they need is a job. There are people in wheel chairs gainfully employees in every state in this country. The same is true with many other 'disabilities.'  There are many people on disability why are there because they do not want to work. They want to lay on the couch and watch movies on their big flat screen TV and play the latest video games on their new computers, while they text their friends on the smart phone. All of which they bought with their disability payments.
