McDonalds is Replacing 2,500 Human Cashiers With Digital Kiosks - Here's the Math - zerohedge.com
Excerpt from this article:
"The stock market is luvin' McDonalds stock, which has continued its recent relentless rise to all time highs, up 26% YTD, oblivious to the carnage among the broader restaurant and fast-food sector. There is a reason for Wall Street's euphoria: the same one we discussed in January in "Dear Bernie, Meet the "Big Mac ATM" That Will Replace All Of Your $15 Per Hour Fast Food Workers."

And if you don't have time (or interest!) to watch this movie, you can just read the following quote from this movie instead:
"If my competitor is drowning, I'm going to go over and stick a water hose in his mouth!" - attributed to Ray Kroc, founder of McDonalds (Some might say he would do the same thing to his employees if they were drowning!). Something to McThink about!

The Great Betrayal: How American Sovereignty and Social Are Being Sacrificed to the Gods of the Global Economy, by Patrick Buchanan
Here is an except from this great book,
"No
site better captures yesterday's America than Detroit, forge and
furnace of America's democracy. Detroit is the burned out case of
American cities. The Empire of the Sun has its revenge. Japanese imports
helped kill the city that built the weapons that destroyed the empire.
Now grandsons of the soldiers of the imperial army work at high paying
manufacturing jobs once held by the fathers of ten-dollar-an-hour
retail clerks in Macomb County.
"But why blame the
Japanese? We did it to ourselves. We Americans created a post war
trading regime, in which, over 25 years, Japan bought 400,000 American
cars while selling us 40 million Japanese cars, a ratio of 100:1. One
president after another sat still while a third of America's greatest
industry was shipped off to Japan...
"Americans no
longer make their own cameras, shoes, radios, TVs, toys. A fifth of our
steal, a third of our autos, half our machine tools, and two-thirds of
our textiles are made abroad...
"The decline and fall of Middle America was neither preordained nor inevitable. It was engineered in Washington D.C. Wages
have fallen and the standard of living of American families has
stagnated because of a basic law: the law of supply and demand. The
price of labor has been dropping because the supply of labor has
exploded...
"Having declared free trade and
open borders to be American policy, why are we surprised that corporate
executives padlocked their plants in the Rust Belt and moved over seas?
Why keep your plants here when you can manufacture at a fraction of
the cost abroad, ship your goods back, and pocket the windfall profits
that come from firing $20 an hour Americans and hiring
fifty-cent-an-hour Asians? A
pair of Nikes that sells for $150 in the United States costs $5 in
wages to make in Indonesia. Any wonder that Nike president Philip
Knight is the fifth richest man in America, with $5.2 billion, while
his Indonesian workers make 31 cents an hour?" (Emphasis mine)

"A group called Lux Dei Design is
starting a campaign to raise $1M on Indiegogo for supporting church
planting and local missions. Sheltering the homeless? No. After school
programs for underprivileged children? Nope. A new church that feeds the
poor? Well... kinda.
'The McMass Project'
seeks to build a McDonald's in a church in order to start a trend of
reversing the decline of service attendance in American churches. In the
past three years, according to McMass, the 'Church' has lost an
estimated 9M people and in 2013 as many as 10K church permanently closed
their doors. What do we do?! McMass has an answer... Build a McDonald's Church."-----------------------------------------------

Robotic Automation At McDonalds Inevitable
Robotic Automation At McDonalds Inevitable - arisplex.com
Excerpt from this Article:
"A labor union backed walkout by fast food workers across a number of major US cities has put the industry in a pickle. The workers are demanding an increase in their minimum wage to 15$ an hour, an increase of more than 100%., To offset the wage increases, companies would be required to dramatically increase food prices, an impossibility in the low cost, low margin fast food industry. Robotics and other technologies make a second option possible, namely, finding ways to do the same work with fewer employees."

"I Work At McDonalds, But I Can't Afford to Eat There!"
"I Work At McDonalds, But I Can't Afford to Eat There!" - zerohedge.com
Excerpt from this article:
"For Shawndraka Mack, a 100% pay rise from her current $7.60 'would do just fine.' While some employees turn to blood plasma donation, and most are on food stamps (and other benefits), the mother of two teenagers (on Medicaid) told Bloomberg Businessweek, 'I love what I do, but I don’t want to work for nothing.' Between the 40 hours a week she works and the benefits, Mack explains, 'I work at McDonald’s and I can’t afford to eat there. It’s crazy'.”
----------------------
If McDonald's raises the wages of all their employees to $15 an hour, none of the rest of us will be able to eat there either. And then McDonald's will go out of business. And then all those workers at McDonald's would be out of work. That's the bad news.
But the good news is this: If McDonald's goes out of business, because they can't afford to pay their employees $15 an hour and still make a profit, that would leave a very big market to be filled by potential entrepreneurs who may want to start their own fast food joint. Of course, these entrepreneurs would want to pay their employees at least $15 an hour to start, so their burgers might be a little pricey!

McDonald's to Worker's: Need Cash? Sell Your Stuff!
McDonald's to Worker's: Need Cash? Sell Your Stuff! - newser.com
Excerpt from this article:
"More handy financial advice from McDonald's, which recently suggested its workers might want to get second jobs: The chain's McResource tip website says readers can make money in a pinch by selling "unwanted possessions on eBay or Craigslist." The advice comes in a section on "Digging Out From Holiday Debt," ThinkProgress reports. A separate suggestion from the site on how to "avoid hunger & stretch food budget": "Breaking food into pieces often results in eating less and still feeling full." This comes shortly after it emerged that McDonald's was advising workers to get on food stamps, the Wire notes."
--------------------
This post, like my last on on Costco, is not meant to 'slam' an American business. McDonalds serves good (if not healthy!) food and provides a ton of jobs (at very low wages!). And while I sympathize with those workers who think McDonalds should pay their employees $15 an hour, I've spent most of my life working for farmers and other companies that produce food, and I've never made $15 an hour!
So until President Obama nationalizes the fast food industry (like he is trying to nationalize the health care industry with Obamacare!), McDonald's is basically offering their employees two choices: Take it - or Leave it (and preferably stick around long enough to train your replacement!).

Companies Lay Off Thousands, Then Demand Immigration Reform for New Labor
Companies lay off thousands, then demand immigration reform for new labor | WashingtonExaminer.com:
"On Tuesday, the chief human resources officers of more than 100 large corporations sent a letter to House Speaker John Boehner and Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi urging quick passage of a comprehensive immigration reform bill. The officials represent companies with a vast array of business interests: General Electric, The Walt Disney Company, Marriott International, Hilton Worldwide, Hyatt Hotels Corporation, McDonald's Corporation, The Wendy's Company, Coca-Cola, The Cheesecake Factory, Johnson & Johnson, Verizon Communications, Hewlett-Packard, General Mills, and many more. All want to see increases in immigration levels for low-skill as well as high-skill workers, in addition to a path to citizenship for the millions of immigrants currently in the U.S. illegally."

McDonald's Chicken McNuggets Found to Contain Mysterious Fibers, Hair-Like Structures
McDonald's Chicken McNuggets found to contain mysterious fibers, hair-like structures; Natural News Forensic Food Lab posts research photos, video:
"Today we announce the first investigation conducted at the Natural News Forensic Food Laboratory, the new science-based research branch of Natural News where we put foods under the microscope and find out what's really there. Earlier today I purchased a 10-piece Chicken McNuggets from a McDonald's restaurant in Austin, Texas. Under carefully controlled conditions, I then examined the Chicken McNuggets under a high-powered digital microscope, expecting to see only processed chicken bits and a fried outer coating. But what I found instead shocked even me. I've seen a lot of weird stuff in my decade of investigating foods and nutrition, but I never expected to find this..."
