Thanks For Dying For The Power Elite!
Thanks For Dying For The Power Elite! lewrockwell.com
Excerpt from this article:
"Memorial Day commemorates soldiers killed in war. We are told that the war dead died for us and our freedom. US Marine General Smedley Butler challenged this view. He said that our soldiers died for the profits of the bankers, Wall Street, Standard Oil, and the United Fruit Company. Here is an excerpt from a speech that he gave in 1933: War is just a racket. A racket is best described, I believe, as something that is not what it seems to the majority of people. Only a small inside group knows what it is about. It is conducted for the benefit of the very few at the expense of the masses.
I believe in adequate defense at the coastline and nothing else. If a nation comes over here to fight, then we’ll fight. The trouble with America is that when the dollar only earns 6 percent over here, then it gets restless and goes overseas to get 100 percent. Then the flag follows the dollar and the soldiers follow the flag." (Emphasis mine)

The Greatest Generation: Sacrificed For the Bankers
The Greatest Generation: Sacrificed For the Bankers - infowars.com
Excerpt from this article:
"Over 60 million people, or 2.5% of the world population, were killed during the Second World War. Responsibility for the staggering loss of life and property is uniformly placed on Adolf Hitler and the Nazis. Excluded from the official history is the fact Hitler and the National Socialists would not have risen to power without the help of international bankers and American and German corporations."

The VA Scandal is Just the Tip of the Military Abuse Iceberg
The VA Scandal is Just the Tip of the Military Abuse Iceberg - infowars.com
Excerpt from this article:
"The president is right to be upset over the mistreatment of US military veterans, especially those who return home with so many physical and mental injuries. Veterans should not be abused when they seek the treatment promised them when they enlisted. But his outrage over military abuse is selective. He ignores the most egregious abuse of the US armed forces: sending them off to fight, become maimed, and die in endless conflicts overseas that have no connection to US national security."

"One of the tenets of militaristic fascism in America is the oft-repeated slogan that 'you don’t have to agree with the wars to honor those who fight them for us.' Something to this effect is repeated thousands of times during Memorial Day bloviations all across the fruited plain. And it is all complete nonsense. 'Honoring' paid killers for the state for participating in non-defensive, unjust wars only serves to make it more likely that there will be even more unjust wars in the future. And it rewards individuals for engaging in some of the most sinful and reprehensible behavior known to mankind. There have been one or two exceptions in American history, but in general what Americans are 'memorializing' on Memorial Day (which began as 'Decoration Day' shortly after Lincoln’s war) is wars of conquest, imperialism, mass murder of foreigners and the confiscation of their property, the abolition of civil liberties at home, the slavery of military conscription, and the debt, taxes, and inflation that are used to pay for it all." Remembering Memorial Day with Debbie Schlussel
Memorial Day 2013: Remembering Our Heroes Who Made the Ultimate Sacrifice; But Enemies Fought Oversees Now Win on US Soil
"I try to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to America...But I have mixed emotions on this Memorial Day 2013. That’s because, yesterday, an experience I had brought starkly into my mind the contrasts and ironies involved in remembering those who died overseas (and on U.S. soil) in service to our country and to keep us free, while our enemies flourish on U.S. soil and nearly make their deaths ones that were in vain. Every day, young Americans–mostly men, and most of them so young, they are really almost kids–continue to die in Afghanistan, as they also died in Iraq, for no apparent reason, other than to pretend we are fighting to change the prevailing Islamic dynamic overseas. And at the same time they are fighting and dying over there, that prevailing Islamic dynamic takes over here on U.S. soil, so that future generations like those young boys who died will become future generations like the victims of Fort Hood and Lee Rigby on the streets of London, as we do nothing while extremists continue to invade and use the laws and freedoms our soldiers died for to take all of those freedoms away in the long term in the name of Islam."

Some Thoughts for Memorial Day
"1-2-3, What are we fighting for? Don't ask me, I don't give a damn. The next stop is Vietnam. 5-6-7 Open up the pearly gates. It ain't no time to wonder why. Yippee! We're all going to die."
-What are we fightin for? by Country Joe and the Fish
I'm not a vet, but I love my country and I've always considered myself to be a patriot. And so, this being Memorial Day, I would really like to write a soul stirring, flag waving, patriotic tribute to the men and women in America's armed forces. But I just can't do it.
Don't get me wrong - I have nothing against the men and women in our military. My father fought in World War II and my grandfather fought in World War I. I have many other relatives who have served in our military - both in peaceful times and when we were at war. In fact, I have a distant relative who was a prisoner of war for several years in Japan during World War II.
I'm proud of those who serve in our military. I'm just not proud of those who send them over to fight in wars which America has no business getting involved with.
Soon we may be at war with Iran. Yes, they may get nuclear weapons one day, and yes maybe we should bomb them back to the stone age. But if we have to do it, let's do it quickly, and then pull out. And then, after about 2 years of the Iranians killing each other, maybe they will ask America (nicely!) to come in and restore order. That is a military policy I think America should pursue.
I recently finished book reports on 2 books of Patrick Buchanan (The Great Betrayal -How American Sovereignty and Social Justice are being Sacrificed to the Gods of the Global Economy, and Suicide of a Superpower - Will America Survive to 2025?). I'm already preparing to do another book report on his book: Churchill, Hitler, and 'The Unnecessary War:' How Britain Lost its Empire and the West Lost the World.
I wonder just how many 'unnecessary wars' America has fought in? And so on this Memorial Day, I salute our men and women in uniform, along with all those who have served in the past. But I do it reluctantly, wondering along with many others in this country, What are we fighting for?
* I originally titled this post, "God Bless the Army - Especially the Snipers!" (Bumber sticker) -But then I remembered what the Bible says about taking the Lord's name in vain, so I changed it to simply, Some thoughts for Memorial Day.
