Halloween is over for another year. Now it is time to gear up for Thanksgiving and Christmas and New Years. But before you let this 'Holiday' pass by too quickly, stop and reflect on the meaning of Halloween.
For the businessman or woman, Halloween (as well as all other holidays) are all the same: they are opportunities to try to sell products and services and to make money. Whether they are using a witch or a turkey or Santa or even our Lord Jesus in a manger, holidays are always exploited to make somebody money.
Christians do not celebrate Halloween. Or at least, they shouldn't. Halloween is the Devil's holiday. And those who belong to the Devil can celebrate it with gusto. The Devil and Halloween represent death. Jesus represents life. Our Lord Jesus says,
"And this is life eternal, that ye may know Thee, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom Thou hast sent." - John 17:3
And also
"The thief cometh not but for to steal and to kill and to destroy. I am come that they might have life, and have it more abundantly." - John 10:10
Halloween not only represents death, and death culture, it represents God's judgment on sin. Halloween, unlike Christmas, is a temporary holiday that will end when our Lord Jesus returns as King and Judge. Christmas - the real Christmas, not the pagan one most celebrate on December 25th, but the Christmas the Bible talks about in Matthew chapter 1 and Luke chapter 2 - will be celebrated through all eternity.
No one will be celebrating Halloween in hell. The witches and warlocks and demons and the devil that will be seen there will be real - and along with all others who reject our Lord Jesus Christ they will be spending eternity in hell paying for their sins. The Bible says,
"And the Devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night forever and ever...And whosoever was not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire." - Revelation 20:10,15
