Patrick Buchanan: Putin - Friend or Foe in Syria?

Patrick Buchanan: Putin -  Friend or Foe in Syria? - lewrockwell.com

Excerpt from this article:

"What Vladimir Putin is up to in Syria makes far more sense than what Barack Obama and John Kerry appear to be up to in Syria....Putin fears that if Assad falls, Russia’s toehold in Syria and the Mediterranean will be lost, ISIS and al-Qaida will be in Damascus, and Islamic terrorism will have achieved its greatest victory. Is he wrong? Winston Churchill famously said in 1939: 'I cannot forecast to you the action of Russia. It is a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma; but perhaps there is a key. That key is Russian national interest.' Exactly. Putin is looking out for Russian national interests."

Rumor? Putin Sends an Open Letter to the American People

Note: please take the following article with a grain of salt.

Rumor? Putin Sends an Open Letter to the American People - beforeitsnews.com

Excerpt from this article:

"How do I put this politely? You Americans are dumb. Today, Russia and America are fighting each other over fighting the Muslim radicals. Instead, we should be uniting to crush these violent Islamists, once and for all."

Government Power Rests on Violence and Coercion

Government Power Rests on Violence and Coercion - reason.com

Excerpt from this article;

“Ukrainian events have demonstrated,” writes Maria Snegovaya in The New Republic, 'that control of violence is still at the very essence of the state.' She says Vladimir Putin’s aggression proves that Max Weber’s definition of the state—an entity with a monopoly on the legitimate use of force—is still relevant, even though we in the West “tend to think of the ‘monopoly on violence’ as a metaphor.”

Putin Recalls 'Romantic Years' of Soviet Youth

Putin Recalls 'Romantic Years' of Soviet Youth

Excerpts from this article:

"The Soviet Union may be long gone but President Vladimir Putin, a former KGB spy, has revealed that he retains fond memories of the Communist Party's youth wing."

If you want to learn more about the "Romantic Years" of the old Soviet Union, check out this excellent book:

The Persecutor, by Sergei Kourdakov (Subtitle: "His Job in the Russian Police Was to Inflict Terror and Suffering on Christians...and He Did it Well!")

Here are 2 short excerpts from reviews of this book:

Reviewer #1: "Absolutely mind blowing! Reading this book sent shock waves down my spine! I usually don't upset very easily, but what the communists would do to innocent Christian people is so cruel it would make you sick."

Reviewer #2: "This book is the autobiography of a young orphan, recruited by the KGB to expose and torture Christians.   Converted by their example of love, he defected to Canada and told the truth about communism brutality to the church. For this he was murdered."

To be fair, not everyone is as enthusiastic about this book. Wikipedia points out that since this book was published post-humously (after his murder!), Christians may have done some editing to make things in Russia look worse than they really were.

I've read this book and I believe it was written by Sergei Kourdakov, and what he wrote is factual. I highly recommend this book to everyone around the world, but especially Americans, because what Sergei talks about in this book is rapidly coming to this country!
