The Daily Spurgeon - January 25, 2013

Quotes by Pastor Charles Haddon Spurgeon (1834 - 1892)

"Moreover, if Satan cannot destroy a Christian, how often has he spoilt his usefulness? Many a believer has fallen, not to break his neck - that is impossible - but he has broken some important bone and has gone limping to his grave."  (From Spurgeon's sermon, Satan Considering the Saints).

Colin Powell Invited to See Obama Fraud Evidence

Colin Powell Invited to See Obama Fraud Evidence - WND News

"Former Secretary of State Colin Powell has denounced Republicans for 'birther nonsense' and described such concerns as 'idiot presentations,' but now a law enforcement official who has reviewed the evidence regarding Barack Obama’s eligibility has invited Powell to see it for himself. 'I don’t know what Mr. Powell’s problem is,' said Michael Zullo, the lead investigator of the Cold Case Posse for Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Maricopa County, Ariz. 'I would open an invitation to him at my expense to the Maricopa County sheriff’s office and I will sit down with him and show him the evidence that we have accumulated that brings us to the only logical conclusion – that this document (Obama’s birth certificate) is manufactured.'”

Here Are All the Children Murdered by Drone Strikes at the Hands of Obama

"Here is a visual of the hundreds of children that have been murdered in US drone strikes on Pakistan and Yemen, ordered by the president during his first term. Their ages range from just 1 year old to 19 years of age...The information was complied by The Bureau of Investigative Journalism, which estimates that there have been approximately 399 to 500 strikes to-date. The research group has found that around three thousand individuals have been killed by these drones, many of them innocent civilians. In Pakistan alone, 891 civilians have been killed by U.S. drones since 2004."

The Rich Get Richer and the Poor Go Hungry!

Goldman Sachs Made $400 Million Betting on Food Prices in 2012 While Hundreds of Millions Starved - Infowars.com

But there is good news, at least for the millions who go to bed hungry. Our Lord Jesus said "To the poor the gospel is preached." (Matthew 11:5).  If you are poor, please take time right now to read Pastor Charles Spurgeon sermon, Preaching for the Poor.

You may also want to check out Ron Reed's 2 minute podcast on James 2:5: "Hath not God chosen the poor of this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?"

As for Goldman Sachs, well, the news isn't quite so good. The Bible says:

"Go to now ye rich men, weep and howl for the miseries that shall come upon you. Your riches are corrupted, your garments are motheaten. Your gold and silver is cankard; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days. Behold the hire of the laborers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them that have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of Sabbath. Ye have lived in pleasure on earth, and been wanton; ye have nourished your hearts as in the day of slaughter. Ye have condemned and killed the just, and he doth not resist you." - James 5:1-6

Quotes by Pastor Charles Haddon Spurgeon (1834 - 1892)

"Those of us who are called to the work of the ministry must expect from our position to be the special objects of his consideration.  When the glass is at the eye of that dreadful warrior, he is sure to look out for those who by their regimentals are discovered to be their officers, and he bids his sharpshooters to be very careful to shoot at these.  Satan Considering the Saints).

Why Young Women Want AR-15s

Why Young Women Want AR-15s - Celia Bigelow & Aubrey Blankenship - National Review Online:

"Sorry, President Obama. As young women, we prefer an AR-15 “assault” rifle with a 30-round magazine for self-defense.

In fact, we wouldn’t want to be stuck at home without one. In the wake of mass murders like Sandy Hook and the horrific rapes and murders of thousands of women each year, pepper spray, mace, or five-round handheld pistols aren’t going to cut it.

So what’s a girl to do? When choosing our tool for home defense, we want the best — in accuracy, handling, and aesthetics. The best choice by all three criteria is — hands down — the AR-15."

Quotes by Pastor Charles Haddon Spurgeon (1834 - 1892)

"Satan must have thought much of Martin Luther. 'I could ride the world over,' says he, 'if it were not for that monk. He stands in my way. That strong headed man hates and mauls my first born son the pope. If I could get rid of him I would not mind though fifty thousand smaller saints stood in my way.'" (From Spurgeon's sermon, Satan Considering the Saints).

Saving Those Damned Catholics!

Wait! I borrowed that title from Judie Brown, a Roman Catholic author. The full title of this book is: Saving Those Damned Catholics: A Defense of Catholic Teaching.

I came across this book several years back, though I haven't read it yet. But I came across it again today when I was doing my research for my feature, Today in the News.  One of the many web sites I check out for this feature is The Remnant, which is maintained by a group of conservative/orthodox Roman Catholics.

While Judie Brown defends the Catholic faith, I will let others defend the Protestant faith:

The Black Pope and his Murdermen - Exposing the Jesuits, by Ian Paisey
No Hope in the Pope -  A Biblical Response to the Exoneration of the Jews, by Pastor Sean E. Harris
Faith Alone - The Evangelical Doctrine of Justification, by R. C. Sproul
Who is Ratzinger Pope Benedict XVI? by Richard Bennett
A Woman Rides the Beast - The Roman Catholic Church in the Last Days, by Dave Hunt
The Vatican Exposd - Money, Murder, and the Mafia, by Paul L. Williams

While I was checking out the Roman Catholic website, The Remnant, I was intriqued by an article titled I Have a Prayer.  This article combined Martin Luther King Day with the 40th anneversary of Roe Vs. Wade. Here is a short excerpt:

"I have a prayer

Born at last! Born at last! Thank God Almighty, we are born at last!"

But what intriqued me even more was the book that was advertised on this site by N.F.H:

"It's a Child, Not A Choice. If It's Not a Baby, You're Not Pregnant!'

Cute!

Something Evil This Way Came: 40 Years of Roe

Something evil this way came: 40 years of Roe; Cardinal Dolan leads mass before prayer vigil | Twitchy:

"Something evil this way came: Today is the 40th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court decision that resulted in robed judges legalizing the killing of innocent unborn children. The more than fifty million lives lost since that decision have no graves to mark their passing. They cannot speak for themselves, as their lives were snuffed out before they could even take their very first breaths. They died lacking even the simple dignity of a human touch. No one was able to hold their tiny, innocent hands, coursing with life’s blood, as that life left their tiny bodies in the womb that was meant to be a safe haven."
