Is is "Live?" Or is it "Hollywood?" Preview of Stephen King's "Under the Dome"
» Putting America Under A Magnifying Glass: Stephen King’s ‘Under The Dome’:
"Unlike many of today’s popular TV shows, 'Under the Dome' has no sparkling vampires, hunky werewolves or sexy witches. There’s no magic, no sorcery and no “game.” You can’t turn off the show at the end of the hour and say to yourself, 'Whew! That was scary. Thank goodness it’s not real!' because this monster IS real and it’s under every bed in every city and every town across America."

No Constitution, No Borders, No USA
No Constitution, no borders, no USA:
"At what point does it become clear that we no longer inhabit America? When we “Press 2,” not “1,” for English? When a national Social Security Number syncs an electronic identity that the government hospital provided us at birth to track us till death? When borders are no more, but the Surveillance State always knows where we are?"

Putin Lectures Obama On Privacy
Putin lectures Obama on privacy:
"In a historic twist of irony, the president of Russia who formerly headed the secretive KGB spy agency is now lecturing the president of the United States on protecting the privacy of citizens. Russia’s Vladimir Putin, in a meeting with RT (Russia Today) journalists, said data surveillance is acceptable, but only if it’s done within the law. 'Such methods are in demand. But you can’t just listen to the phone call in Russia; you need a special order from court,' Putin said. 'This is how this should be done in civilized society while tackling terrorism with the use of any technical means. If it is in the framework of the law, then it’s OK. If not it is unacceptable.'
Things have come a long way since Pastor Richard Wurmbrand was a 'guest' of the state in a Romanian Prison under the old Soviet Union. For what America could look like in the not-too-distant-future, read:
Tortured for Christ, by Richard Wurmbrand

The Laughable Innocence of Facebook and Google (and Us!)
The laughable innocence of Facebook and Google (and us) | Technically Incorrect - CNET News:
"I hear wailing. I think it's coming from all those who believed, in some sweet corner of their minds, that they were changing the world. You know, for the better. The generation that believed technology was heralding a new togetherness, a new openness, a new freedom, a new transparency is suddenly confronted by the idea that its idols might be something terrible -- yes, pragmatic.Suddenly, they hear that Facebook, Google, Yahoo, and all the other immature brand names might have been offering information to the government when the government asked nicely -- which hardly seems something new, given the already recorded instances of government issuing subpoenas in order to get information...Yet the wailers bemoan: 'How could they do this?' 'They've betrayed us!' they shriek. 'It's a surveillance state. They've destroyed our privacy.'"
