Educating Angels

Educating Angels, by Pastor Robert McCurley

The text for this sermon is I Peter 1:12:

"Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into."

Here is another sermon by Pastor Robert McCurley:

Dealing With Lust

The text for this sermon is Matthew 5:27,28:

"Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:
But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart."

This sermon is from the following text:

"Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.
And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.
It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement:
But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery."

If the rapidly changing online porn ticker represented increasing stock value there would be thousands possibly millions of overnight millionaires Instead the ticker indicates an insatiable appitite for sexually explicit pornography and a high percentages of those searching are teenagers."

Study: Teens, Adults Opting for Porn, Less Dangerous Than Actually Having Sex

Study: Teens, Adults Opting for Porn, Less Dangerous Than Actually Having Sex - washingtonexaminer.com

Excerpt from this article:

"Teens and older adults in America are shifting to virtual sex, choosing pornography "because it is less risky than actually having sex," according to a blockbuster new survey of porn in America.
In the study, "The Porn Phenomenon," the only area of growth area of why young and older men and women age are turning to porn is because they believe a picture or a video is safer than the real thing....There were two other major findings: Women are into porn in a big way and teen sexting is still hot."
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

The Bible says:

"Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

Study Suggests Porn Addiction Not Real

Study Suggests Porn Addiction Not Real - vocativ.com

Excerpt from this article:

"YourBrainOnPorn.org which argue porn addiction is real. 'We know individuals who identify as sexually addicted have more conservative values and were more likely to be raised in religious households, so they may simply be picking up on shame, not addiction, in the brain,' she said."
--------------------------------

Addictions are real, whether it is sex, porn, food, drugs, alcohol, gambling or whatever. The Bible talks about addictions in this way:

"His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins." - Proverbs 5:22

And speaking more specifically to those who have addiction to porn, the Bible says:

"Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin;..." - 2 Peter 2:14

But "addiction" does not equal "excuse." No one will be able to say to our Lord Jesus on Judgement Day, "But I was an addict, so it's not my fault."

The good news is that God can - and frequently does - deliver addicts from their addictions. And his promise is this:

"If we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." - 1 John 1:9 (sometimes referred to as the Christians bar of soap verse!)

By Silence Betrayed: Sexual Abuse of Children in America, by John Crewdson. Here is an excerpt from this great book:

But despite the gradual recognition that having sex with adults was probably not in children’s best interest, a gap remained between word and deed. It was the children of the nineteenth century for whom the first fairy tales were written, but the Victorians have become notorious for preaching one thing and doing quite another where sex was concerned. In 1835, the Society for the Prevention of Juvenile Prostitution reckoned that four hundred Londoners depended for their livelihoods on child prostitutes…one of the major accomplishments of England’s Victorian-era child welfare brigades was to raise the legal age for prostitution from nine to thirteen.”

Women Are From Venus, and Men Are From Whatever Planet Watches Porn All the Time

I'm not a big fan of Amy Dickenson, but I do read her column from time to time (mostly because it is right under Dilbert comic strip, and I have to read that every day!). Amy Dickenson is an advice columist. Much of her advice is very good and helpful, although some of it's not. But her column that appeared in yesterday's paper was excellent (See: Ask Amy: Teen Son's Porn Habit Worries Mom).

And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell." - Matthew 5:2-30

Japanese Population Declining Due to Porn? - breitbart.com

Excerpt from this article:

"As Ben Shapiro wrote in Porn Generation: How Social Liberalism is Corrupting America in 2005, 'The limitless sexual license of the porn generation is not without consequence. It leads to spiritual desensitization, emotional removal, and lack of commitment.'This bodes ill for America, where 70% of men ages 18-24 visit pornographic sites monthly, and 66% of men between 20 and 40 report regular use of pornography."

The Entertainment Industry: As Nasty as They Want To Be!

Actors. Actresses. Musicians. Professional athletes. These are the people your kids look up. So much so that businesses are willing to pay them millions of dollars to endorse their products. (see Hollywood Pushes Immorality, Violence and Gun Control; Demand a Plan? Demand Celebrities Go ...).

What would happen if the porn industry decided to hire top celebrities to advertise their products? Pornography is already one of the largest segments of the Internet (see: Covenant Eyes: Porn Stats). What would happen, if say, major celebrities started to appear in hard core porn movies? Would that increase the number of men (and women and children!) who start clicking on porn sites and watching X-rated movies? Or would people say, "We will accept Miley Cyrus' twerking, but that is as far as we want to go?"

Here is an experiment that I really don't want anyone to perform: Turn on your computer. Go to www.googleimages.com. Now type in the name of your favorite pop star followed by the word porn. You can start with the following names: The Olson Twins, Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Britney Spears, Miley Cyrus, Madonna, & Drew Barrymore).

The world says:

"It seams so obvious: if we invent a machine, the first thing we are going to do - after making a profit - is use it to watch porn." - Damon Brown, Playboy's Best Covers

The Bible says:

"There is no fear of God before their eyes." - Romans 3:18
"I will set no wicked thing before my eyes." - Psalms 101:3

How Porn is Rewiring Men's Brains

Don Jon: How Porn is Rewiring Men's Brains - telegraph.co.uk

Excerpt from this article:

"Statistics are superfluous - we all know that - but here's some anyway: 97% of boys and 80% of girls who responded to a University of East London survey targeting those between 16 and 20 said they had viewed porn. In America one in three women regularly watch porn and 70% of men ages 18 to 24 visit porn sites at least once a month (And the English speaking West isn't even pornography's most enthusiastic market - that honor goes to Pakistan!)"

Our Lord Jesus says:

"Ye have heard that it has been said, Thou shalt not commit adultery. But I say unto you, that whosoever looketh upon a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart." - Matthew 5:27,28

Ex- Porn Star Reveals the Horror of Working in the Sex Industry - theblaze.com

"Ex-porn star Vanessa Belmond left behind a years-long career in adult entertainment, and is hoping to help others do the same. The 25-year-old, who performed under the name Alexa Cruz, has become an anti-pornography advocate to spread awareness of the dangers perpetuated by the adult film business. Belmond is so devoted to the cause that she volunteers with AntiPornography.org, a group that fights the porn industry. In a profile published on the organization’s website, the former adult actress said that she started working in the industry when she was 18. She decided to quit in March after she realized the emotional and physical toll the job was taking on her. 'I am now volunteering for AntiPornography.org and supporting their vitally important mission by speaking out against the devastating harms of pornography, prostitution, stripping, and related forms of sexual exploitation and abuse,'” she said.
