Bible Reading for Thursday, September 28, 2017

There are many different websites that offer reading plans to read the Bible in a year. Here is a really good one:  Read the KJV Bible in One Year.

For today, read Isaiah 5 & 6; Ephesians 1:

Sermons from Isaiah 5:

Jesus' Message With the Parable of the Wicked Winedressers, by Pastor Joel Overduin [Text: 5:1-7; Mark 12:1,2]
What More Could I Do? by Dr. David P. Murray [Text: Isaiah 5:4]
Liqueur Licensing: The Way DOWNWARD, by Rev. Ian Brown [Text: 5:11 & 22]

Revival: Recapturing the Vanishing Vision of God, by Evangelist E. A. Johnston [Text: Isaiah 6; Revelation 20; Hebrews 12]

Sermons from Isaiah 6:

The Holiness of God in Preaching, by Dr. R. C. Sproul [Text: Isaiah 6]
An Old Testament Pattern for Worship, by Rev. Stephan Hamilton [Text: Isaiah 6]
The Leafless Tree, by Pastor Charles Haddon Spurgeon (1834-1892) [Text: Isaiah 6:13]
A Vision of The Lord on His Throne, by Rev. Pieter Vandermeyden [Text: Isaiah 6]
Seven Views of Isaiah, by Dr. Ian R. K. Paisley [Text: Isaiah 6]
God is Holy, by Dr. David P. Murray [Text: Isaiah 6:3]
Isaiah's Vision of God's Glory, by Dr. Joel Beeke [Text: Isaish 6:1-4]

Sermons from Ephesians 1:

The Holy Catholic (Worldwide) Church, by Rev. Cornelis (Neil) Pronk [Text: Ephesians 1:4]
Predestination and its Consequences, by James Hamilton, The Street Preacher [Text: Ephesians 1:5]
Adoption, by Pastor Charles Haddon Spurgeon (1834-1892) [Text: Ephesians 1:5]
God's Perfect Plan, by Dr. David P. Murray [Text: Ephesians 1:11]
The Providence of God Thrown Down by the Arminian Idol of Free Will, by John Owen (1616-1618) [Text: Ephesians 1:11]
Prophetic History of the Gentile World, by Dr. Alan Cairns [Text: Ephesians 1:11; Danial 4:35]
Friday the 13th - A Biblical Perspective, by Rev. Ian Brown [Text: Ephesians 1:3-6, and Ephesians 1:11; Romans 8:28-30]

Note: The above sermons are on Ephesians 1:4,5 and/or 11. These verses are used to support (rightly, I believe) the Calvinists doctrine of predestination. Three more sermons you may wish to check out, if you are interested in this topic, are from Rev. Cornelis (Neil) Pronk: They are as follows:

The Decree of Reprobation [Text: Romans 9:14-23]
Eternal Decree of Election
Objections to Election Answered

And for still further study on this most solemn doctrine, I recommend The Five Points of Calvinism, by Prof. Herman Hanko

Radio Free Geneva: Jacob Prasch and the Armenians (OK, the Arminians)

Radio Free Geneva: Jacob Prasch and the Armenians (OK, the Arminians), by Dr. James White

This is a great podcast and I highly recommended it. Pastor Charles Haddon Spurgeon (1834 - 1892) once said:

"'What?' you say. 'Can God make me become a Christian?' I tell you, yes, for herein lies the power of the gospel. It does not ask your consent, but it gets it. It does not say, 'Will you have it?' but it makes you willing in the day of God's power...The gospel wants not your consent; it gets it. It knocks the enmity out of your heart. He makes your will turn around, and then you cry, 'Lord, save, or I perish.' 'Ah,' might heaven say, 'I knew I would make you say that!'"

The Next Kim Davis: Government Officials Exercise Their Right to Refuse Gay Marriages

The Next Kim Davis: Government Officials Exercise Their Right to Refuse Gay Marriages - pjmedia.com

Excerpt from this article:

"Either of two judges in Oregon could become the next Kim Davis by taking a stand for what they see as their religious freedom to refuse to perform same-sex marriages....Patrick Korten, a spokesman for the legal firm Day has hired, told the Oregonian the judge never prevented a gay couple from getting married, as Kim Davis did in Kentucky by refusing to issue marriage licenses.  Instead, Davis simply referred gay couples to other judges who would perform the ceremonies.  'For him as a religious matter it’s not something that he wished to participate in, and he doesn’t have to,' Korten said. 'He has First Amendment rights, just like everybody else.'”
