Romans 9
The Decree of Reprobation, by Rev. Cornelis (Neil) Pronk
The text for this sermon is Romans 9:14-29:
"What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid.
15 For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.
16 So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.
17 For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth.
18 Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth.
19 Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth he yet find fault? For who hath resisted his will?
20 Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?
21 Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?
22 What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction:
23 And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory,
24 Even us, whom he hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?
25 As he saith also in Osee, I will call them my people, which were not my people; and her beloved, which was not beloved.
26 And it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people; there shall they be called the children of the living God.
27 Esaias also crieth concerning Israel, Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved:
28 For he will finish the work, and cut it short in righteousness: because a short work will the Lord make upon the earth.
29 And as Esaias said before, Except the Lord of Sabaoth had left us a seed, we had been as Sodoma, and been made like unto Gomorrha."

Daily Bible Reading for Thursday, March 10, 2016
There are many different websites that offer reading plans to read the Bible in a year. Here is a really good one: Read the KJV Bible in One Year. For today, why don't you read along with me chapters 1-3 in Ephesians.

"According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will..." - Ephesians 1:4,5
"In whom also we have obtained an inheritance , being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will..." - Ephesians 1:11
"And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others." - Ephesians 2:1-3
"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast . For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them." - Ephesians 2:8-10

Scholars Discover Charles Spurgeon's Psalter
Scholars Discover Charles Spurgeon's Psalter - christiannews.net
Excerpt from this article:
"Scholars at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary have discovered, within the institution’s Spurgeon Library collection, a Psalter that 19th-century Baptist pastor Charles Spurgeon used in the compilation of his commentary on the book of Psalms, 'The Treasury of David.' 'One of the purposes for the existence of the Spurgeon Library at Midwestern Seminary is to advance the Gospel of Jesus Christ..."

I think Charles Spurgeon (1834-1892) would have been happier had they found an old copy of his A Defense Of Calvinism. Spurgeon writes:
"The old truth that Calvin preached, that Augustine preached, that Paul preached, is the truth that I must preach to-day, or else be false to my conscience and my God. I cannot shape the truth; I know of no such thing as paring off the rough edges of a doctrine. John Knox's gospel is my gospel. That which thundered through Scotland must thunder through England again."
Elsewhere he writes:
"I have my own private opinion that there is no such thing as preaching Christ and Him crucified, unless we preach what nowadays is called Calvinism. It is a nickname to call it Calvinism; Calvinism is the gospel, and nothing else." (Source)

Billy Graham, Pope Francis, and The Doctrine of Total Depravity
Yesterday Pope Francis said that Atheist can be good (see Pope Francis Says Atheists Can Go To Heaven: Sweet Jesus! The College of Cardinals Done Elected a Hippie!) On May 18th, I did a short post titled: "Puff Graham Murray". My goal in that post was to set the gospel and teaching of Billy Graham along side that of Dr. David P. Murray, specifically in Dr. Murray's sermon: When Government Tries to Be God.
As Dr. R. C. Sproul says in Faith Alone: The Evangelical Doctrine of Justification, there is only one true gospel. It is my belief that the gospel preached by Dr. Murray is the same gospel that was preached by our Lord Jesus and his Apostles 2000 years ago. To give you a little insight in where people like Billy (and Franklin) Graham and Pope Francis get their gospels from, please take the time to listen to this very informative message by Rev.
