Polycarp's Lasts Stand, by Rev. Paul Archbald

If you are not familiar with Polycarp, you can go to Polycarp.net for a short biography. Polycarp, a disciple of John, the last living disciple of our Lord Jesus, was martyred for the faith in 155 A.D. Just before being burned at the stake, he was given a chance to recant. Polycarp replied:

"Eighty-six years I have served Christ, and He never did me any wrong. How can I blaspheme my King who saved me?
