Americans Hit the Roof in Debt-Ceiling Fight

Americans hit the roof in debt-ceiling fight:

"By a margin of 2-1, Americans have said in a poll they do not want Congress to raise the debt ceiling to allow more borrowing and spending. As WND has reported, the issue is becoming critical, as federal officials have left the U.S. debt clock stuck at exactly $16,699,396,000,000 for weeks. The debt has been frozen at that amount because of an accounting trick Treasury Secretary Jack Lew calls 'extraordinary measures.' The measures have prevented the government from defaulting on its obligations and allowed it to keep borrowing, while maintaining the official debt just $25 million below the legal debt limit set by Congress of $16,699,421,000,000."

L.A. Mayor Declares State of Emergency - Drudge Report

Eric Garcetti: Mayor Help Slow Film, TV Production Leaving Hollywood | Variety:

"Los Angeles’ new mayor has vowed to help stanch the flow of film and TV production jobs out of Hollywood, starting with the appointment of a film czar at City Hall. But to make a real difference, Eric Garcetti needs to convince skeptical state pols to combat the lure of rich tax incentives from outside California."

Rotting, Decaying And Bankrupt – If You Want To See The Future Of America Just Look At Detroit

Rotting, Decaying And Bankrupt – If You Want To See The Future Of America Just Look At Detroit:

"Eventually the money runs out.  Much of America was shocked when the city of Detroit defaulted on a $39.7 million debt payment and announced that it was suspending payments on $2.5 billion of unsecured debt, but those who visit my site on a regular basis were probably not too surprised.  Anyone with half a brain and a calculator could see this coming from a mile away."

Detroit Defaults: Tells Creditors They'll Have to Accept Pennies on the Dollar

Detroit Tells Creditors They'll Have to Accept Pennies on the Dollar:

"In 2009, as the Obama administration pressed through its version of the auto bailout, creditors of companies like General Motors were squeezed into accepting repayments of just pennies on the dollar. The deal was supposed to save Detroit. Instead, creditors of the city of Detroit itself will now be handed pennies on the dollar."

Here is a great excerpt from Patrick Buchanan's book:  The Great Betrayal: How American Sovereignty and Social Justice Are Being Sacrificed to the Gods of the Global Economy

"No site better captures yesterday's America than Detroit, forge and furnace of America's democracy. Detroit is the burned out case of American cities. The Empire of the Sun has its revenge. Japanese imports helped kill the city that built the weapons that destroyed the empire. Now grandsons of the soldiers of the imperial army work at high paying manufacturing jobs once held by the fathers of ten-dollar-an-hour retail clerks in Macomb County.

"But why blame the Japanese? We did it to ourselves. We Americans created a post war trading regime, in which, over 25 years, Japan bought 400,000 American cars while selling us 40 million Japanese cars, a ratio of 100:1. One president after another sat still while a third of America'a greatest industry was shipped off to Japan...

"Americans no longer make their own cameras, shoes, radios, TVs, toys. A fifth of our steal, a third of our autos, half our machine tools, and two-thirds of our textiles are made abroad...

"The decline and fall of Middle America was neither preordained nor inevitable. It was engineered in Washington D.C. Wages have fallen and the standard of living of American families has stagnated because of a basic law: the law of supply and demand. The price of labor has been dropping because the supply of labor has exploded...

"Having declared free trade and open borders to be American policy, why are we surprised that corporate executives padlocked their plants in the Rust Belt and moved over seas?  Why keep your plants here when you can manufacture at a fraction of the cost abroad, ship your goods back, and pocket the windfall profits that come from firing $20 an hour Americans and hiring fifty-cent-an-hour Asians? A pair of Nikes that sells for $150 in the United States costs $5 in wages to make in Indonesia. Any wonder that Nike president Philip Knight is the fifth richest man in America, with $5.2 billion, while his Indonesian workers make 31 cents an hour?" (Emphasis mine)

Manufacturing in U.S. Shrinks at Fastest Pace in Four Years

Manufacturing in U.S. Shrinks at Fastest Pace in Four Years - Bloomberg:

"-- Manufacturing in the U.S. unexpectedly contracted in May at the fastest pace in four years, indicating industry will provide scant support for the world’s largest economy. The Institute for Supply Management’s factory index fell to 49 from the prior month’s 50.7, the Tempe, Arizona-based group’s report showed today. Fifty is the dividing line between growth and contraction, and last month’s reading was the lowest since June 2009. The median forecast of 81 economists surveyed by Bloomberg was 51."

The Dying Dollar and the Rise of a New Currency Order

The Dying Dollar and the Rise of a New Currency Order | Real Currencies

"For years now, the collapse of the dollar has been in the cards. Recent developments show mounting pressure on the dollar’s reserve currency status. With a major international deflation going on, the threat of inflation through money printing is unreal. However, should the dollar’s  reserve currency status end, the repatriation of trillions of petro- and eurodollars could lead to a strongly inflationary scenario."

Sessions: 57 million New People to Enter America, Compete for Jobs - Breitbart

The Great Betrayal: How American Sovereignty and Social Justice are Being Sacrificed to the Gods of the Global Economy

Note: Before you pass over this great book, please read the following excerpts:

"...the standard of living of American families has stagnated because of a basic law: the law of supply and demand. The price of labor has been dropping because the supply of labor has exploded..."

"Where did the jobs go? Farther south than Dixie, farther west than Hawaii:  first to Japan, Taiwan, Korea, and Hong Kong; now to Mexico, China, Indonesia, and all across Asia. Some are unconcerned about losing these 'dead-end jobs' in 'sunset industries.' 'I'm a conservative futurist,' says Newt Gingrich. 'We must accelerate America's entry into the Third Wave Information Age.' But not every American belongs to the cognitive elite. Not every American is equipped by nature or nurture to 'accelerate' into a 'Third Wave Information Age.' And when we are rid of all those obsolete industrial jobs, what do we do with the obsolete workers who used to perform them? Who takes care of their families?"

"No site better captures yesterday's America than Detroit, forge and furnace of America's democracy. Detroit is the burned out case of American cities. The Empire of the Sun has its revenge. Japanese imports helped kill the city that built the weapons that destroyed the empire. Why Texas Wants its Gold Back from the Feds

Why Texas Wants its Gold Back from the Feds - WND News

Excerpts:

“'The eyes of Texas are upon you' goes the song, but right now those eyes seem to be squarely focused on the financial crisis in Cyprus. Texas Gov. Rick Perry is supporting a bill that would return the state’s $1 billion in gold reserves currently stored by the Federal Reserve at a vault in New York to the state. The sponsor of the bill, State Rep. Giovanni Capriglione, R-Southlake, told the Texas Tribune, “For us to have our own gold, a lot of the runs on the bank and those types of things, they happen because people are worried that there’s nothing there to back it up.”

Does America Have a "Debt Crisis?"

According to our President, no, we don't  (See President Obama: There is No Debt Crisis). That is his opinion. But if you'd like a second opinion, check out the following article by Ed Butowsky:

Wake Up America! The Debt is Hurting You Today

Here is an excerpt from this article:

"The government spends more money than it takes in. In fact, it spends one trillion dollars more than it takes in every year. Since it doesn’t collect enough in taxes to pay for everything, it borrows money (debt) from other countries to fill that gap. That debt costs even more money in the form of interest payments. Currently, we must pay $500 billion in interest every year. That money has to come from somewhere, so we literally need to print money out of 'thin air.'  When you mass-produce anything, its value drops. So if we buy anything outside of our borders, our money will have less value (relative to the currency of another country) for us having printed more of it.  Since our money has less and less value, that makes any items we buy outside our borders more and more expensive. And guess what? We purchase 70 percent of what we consume from outside our borders – such as food, oil, and countless other commodities that are in the products we use every day."

Is it True that '90% of Dairy Workers in Idaho Are Illegal?'

90% of State's Dairy Workers Illegal? - WND News

Excerpt:

"[US Rep. from Idaho] Labrador adds, 'There is no visa for them to be able to work here and nobody else will do those jobs.' WND reported in 2005 on an analysis that indicated those types of jobs actually may be open because of low wages caused by illegal immigration. The report by investment firm Bear Stearns showed that between four and six million U.S. jobs had shifted from the legal work force to the underground since 1990, 'as employers have systematically replaced American workers with lower wage illegal aliens.' ...Jim Gilchrist, the founder of the Minuteman Project, told WND when the recession hit in 2008 that America can no longer afford to operate under the assumption that only immigrants would be willing to do low-wage work. In hard times, many citizens will be looking for any job they can find."

I grew up on a dairy farm, and worked many years on dairy farms after I dropped out of high school. Some of the men (and women) I worked with were in the country illegally, but certainly not 90%. That never bothered men then. Most of the people I worked with were in this country for one reason - to work! And many sent much of their earnings to their family in Mexico and other central and Latin American countries.

In more recent years I've met people who were in this country for less noble reasons, but I have nothing but respect for the guys (and gals) I used to work with on the farms.
