A Tribute to John Newton, Author of Amazing Grace

You may recognize John Newton as the author of that wonderful hymn Amazing Grace. It has been claimed that You Tube has recordings of Amazing Grace in over 50 Languages (source). Here are just a few: Spanish, German, Cherokee, French, Korean, Swedish, Russian, Japanese, Arabic, Lumbee, Chinese and Tagalog.

Dr. J. I. Packer had to say about Amazing Grace:

"Yet we in our day, much as we love to sing Amazing Grace (I suppose because we like the tune), are not inwardly amazed by grace as the Puritans were; it does not startle us that the holy Creator should receive sinners into his company; rather, we take it for granted! 'God will forgive. That's his job!' was the final scoff with which the French cynic went to meet his Maker."

Make America Hate Again! - Drudge Report

Matt Drudge's headline says it all. Make America Hate Again! The Bible says:

"If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men." - Romans 12:18

And,

"Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God." - Matthew 5:9

God hates racism. And there is just as much racism on the left as there is on the right!

The Devil's Vision

The devil once said to his demons below,

"Our work is progressing entirely too slow.

The holiness people stand in our way

Since they do not believe in the show or the play.

They teach that the carnival, circus and dance,

The tavern and honky-tonk with game of chance,

Drinking and smoking, these things are all wrong;

The Christians don't mess with the ungodly throng.

They are quick to condemn everything that we do

To cause unbelievers to be not a few.

They claim that these things are all of the devil;

The old family altar which once held such charm

Will soon lose its place without much alarm.

Praying in secret will also be lost

As they look at the screen, not counting the cost.

Compromise preachers, who don't take their stand

Will embrace this new vision and think it is grand.

They'll help fool the people and cause them to sin

By seeking this evil and taking it in.

Influence is great and this you can see;

Just look at my fall and you'll have to agree.

It won't take too long, my demons, to tell

That the vision of Satan will populate Hell!

Divorce will increase, sex crimes will abound;

Much innocent blood will be spilled on the ground.

The home will be damned in short order I say

When this vision of mine comes in to stay.

Get busy, my cohorts, and put this thing out;

We'll see if the church can continue to shout.

The holiness people who stand in our way

God will judge racists on Judgement Day. And the despicable father in this article is in danger of losing much more than just his daughter - he's going to lose his soul if he doesn't not repent. All races come from Adam and Eve (and they likely were not Caucasian!). People who look down their nose at others because of the color of their skin are judging the God who created them - and they will be held accountable on Judgement Day.

But that doesn't mean we have to see racism under ever rock we turn over. The idiot college professors and Hollywood scum that say it's racist just to be white are, well, racists!

If black lives mattered to Black Lives Matter, that 40-to-1 death ratio would demand both their focus and their attention."

"While the Black Lives Matter (BLM) crowd insists that the phrase 'Black Lives Matter' includes the silent and implied 'Too,' as in 'Black Lives Matter, Too,' the reality is that it actually includes the silent and implied 'Some,' as in 'Some Black Lives Matter.' The basic premise of the BLM narrative is that racist white cops who systematically and routinely target black men for violence and murder are the single greatest threat to black men. 'That narrative, though — like so many others — is predicated on a lie that is designed to hide a simple truth. That truth, if the numbers are allowed to speak for themselves, is that black men are themselves the single greatest threat to black men. Before this writer is accused of racism, I did not say that. A black man did. That black man is Jay Stalien, a police officer in Palm Beach County, Florida. ...Black Lives do not matter to most black people. Only the lives that make the national news matter to them. Only the lives that are taken at the hands of cops or white people, matter. The other thousands of lives lost, the other black souls that I along with every cop, have seen taken at the hands of other blacks, do not matter. "Dylann Roof was a loser and an idiot. He didn’t know anything about the Confederacy. He declared that he hates Jews. And, yet, he didn’t seem to know that his beloved Confederacy had as one of its officials, Judah P. Benjamin. Benjamin, a Jew, was the Confederates States’ Secretary of War.
...It’s weird that all of these phonies who ascribe modern-day mass murder to the rebel flag don’t have the slightest prob with Che Guevara T-shirts. Apparently, because he was Hispanic and part of the radical chic, he gets a pass for being a racist against Blacks and a mass murderer. Hey, just like Dylann Roof! But Roof isn’t a 'cool Hispanic.' So, his brand of racism ain’t hip. And, also, Che Guevara T-shirt wearers = Obama voters."

I've never owned a Confederate flag (and I'm sure I never will!). But I am a fan of Johnny Horton. And when I listen to his song Johnny Reb, I don't think about racism. I think about American Patriots from the South fighting to preserve their way of life.

And to the extent that slavery was a part of that 'way of life,' it is good that the South lost and that the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments were added to our Constitution. Slavery - just as racism - is evil and God hates it. But we are living in 2015 and not 1861.

Many black leaders have come out and spoke about how much progress America had made in ending racism - until Barack Obama became president (see Ann Coulter Sounds Off On Ferguson, Garner)

Those who want to ban the Confederate flag and open up old wounds have an agenda, and it is nothing short of the destruction of America.
