Read the Whole Bible in 2014! Saturday, October 25, 2014
I'm going to try to read through the whole Bible this year. Why don't you join me? There are many different websites that offer reading plans to read the Bible in a year. The one I chose is Read the KJV Bible in One Year. So for today, let's read chapters 9-12 in he book of Ecclesiastes.
Special Verse:
"Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not when thou shalt say I have no pleasure in them." - Ecclesiastes 12:1
Note: If you have a reading disability that makes it difficult or impossible to read along with me this year, please consider going to Biblegateway.com and listening to the Bible. This is a great site with many resources, one of which is an audio version of the Bible.

Atheists Tell Church: "Render to Caesar the Things Which Are Caesars"
Atheist Activists' Big Legal Win Against the IRS Could Spell Major Trouble for Clergy Salaries - theblaze.com*
Excerpt from this article:
*I link to stories from time to time that appear on theblaze.com, but I am always a little uneasy when I do it. The Blaze is owned by Glen Beck, who is a Mormon. And the last thing I want my readers to think is that the gospel that I try to proclaim on this web site has anything at all to do with the gospel proclaimed by the Mormon church. Nevertheless, because Glen Beck is willing to report on news stories that the liberal press - and to a lesser extent, even Fox News - won't report on, I check out his site on a regular basis, especially when doing research for my Today in the News feature (see my posts: What Do Dr. Tim LaHaye and Glen Beck Have In Common, and Glen Beck: Impeach Obama and GOP Stars)

It's Time for Churches to Give Up Their Tax Exempt Status
Excerpt from this article:
"This portion of the tax code says that “a minister of the gospel” — pastors, rabbis, imams and others – does not have to include in gross income the rental value of a home given to him or her as part of compensation. The code also specifies that a rental
allowance paid to the individual as part of compensation does not need
to be counted toward gross income."

Federal Government Now Requiring Churches to Get Permits for Baptisms
Federal government now requiring churches to get permits for Baptisms - BizPac Review:
"As if it wasn’t involved in people’s private lives enough, the federal government wants to regulate baptisms, requiring a special-use permit for ceremonies in public waters. The policy was recently enforced by the National Park Service, which — spontaneity be damned — requires a 48-hour advance notice of baptisms, according to Todd Starnes at Fox News."

Atheist Coalition Urges Unconstitutional Government Intrusion into Church Finances
Atheist Coalition Urges Unconstitutional Government Intrusion into Church Finances | RedState:
"The Secular Coalition for America, a self-described alliance of “atheists, agnostics, humanists, freethinkers and other nontheistic Americans,” is taking direct aim at churches in America. The group is pushing a legislative proposal that would bring about radical changes to churches’ long-held tax-exempt status including the possible forced disclosure of donors. Even more disturbing, this push calls for direct government intrusion into the affairs of churches – something the Constitution directly forbids."
I think churches should give up their 'tax exempt' status.

Pulpit Freedom Sunday 2012 - What's it all About? Part III
In part 2 of this 3 part series on Pulpit Freedom Sunday, I posted a link to a sermon by Dr. Dennis Ingolfsland. In that sermon, Pulpit Freedom Sunday, Dr. Ingolfsland shares his views on some of the issues that brought about Pulpit Freedom Sunday .
Now, I want to conclude with a link to a sermon by Pastor Joey Faust on this same topic. The title of his sermon is: Not a Jezebel State Church.

Pulpit Freedom Sunday 2012 - What's it All About? Part I
This is part 1 in a 3 part series on Pulpit Freedom Sunday. Please read the article, Pastors Prepare to Defy IRS With “Pulpit Freedom Sunday”. This news article provides an opportunity to look again into the controversy surrounding the 501c3 Tax Exempt status for churches.
The writer of this article says, "The purpose [of Pulpit Freedom Sunday] is to make sure that the pastor, and not the IRS, decides what is said from the pulpit." Actually, it is, or should be, the Bible that decide what is to be said from the pulpit, but let's not split hairs!
There are 2 issues at stake in Pulpit Freedom Sunday. One is the pastors' first amendment right to freedom of speech, granted to them by the United States government. If (some say when!) that right is taken away, Pastors are going to have to decide whether they want to obey God (Acts 5:29) or the state.
The second issue, and really more to the point on this particular event, is whether or not a church can claim 501 c3 tax exempt status, and still expect the government to allow them to say anything they want (or they feel the Bible compels them to say) from the pulpit.
To me, this is like the church wanting to have its cake (501 c3 tax exempt status) and eat it too (be protected from the IRS).
In an effort to try to look at both sides of the issue, please take time to listen to these 2 great audio messages (I respect pastor Hammack, but on this issue, I agree more with Brother Slattery!).

Is Romney part of the Conspiracy to Destroy America?
Romney Foreign Policy Shows Strong CFR, Neo-con Influence:
In a recent post I talked about why I believe in the Conspiratorial Theory of History.' Before you go to the polls this fall, if you care about this country, please read this post. And more important, read the links that I have place in this post.
But America's problem is spiritual. It is not political. it's not financial. It's not It has nothing to do with the Council on Foreign Relations, the Trilateral Commission, the Bilderbergers or the United Nations. America is facing the swift and certain judgment of God for her sins.
And true repentance and turning from those sins are the only way America is going to avoid going the way of Sodom and Gomorrah.

501c3 Tax Exempt Status for Churches
Here are two great messages on the issue of 501c3, tax exempt status for Churches. I personally lean toward the second one, but both are very informative.
501c3 Craziness, by Pastor Trevor Hammack
501c3 is Sin, by Brother Michael Slattery
Especially in a country where the president (and his liberal radical followers!) are as hostile to Christianity as America is today, it is probably best for true churches (those that still believe the Bible is God's inerrant Word) to pay full taxes on the money their receive in donations, rather than give the government a reason to dictate what the church can do and teach.
