Some People Are Still Preaching "The Theology Of The First Century!"

Included In A Christian College President's Explanation For Inviting Lesbian Pastor To Speak Is A Very Controversial Claim About Christianity- theblaze.com

Excerpt from this article:

"Christian college officials are defending their school’s controversial decision to invite a lesbian faith leader to lecture students this month, claiming that they have no plans to reconsider the invitation and that people cannot be 'guided and dictated by a first-century worldview.'” (emphasis mine)

It is interesting to find this article appearing in theblaze.com, which is run by Glen Beck, a Mormon. Similar articles appeared about a year ago when Liberty University - founded by the late Dr. Jerry Falwell - invited Glen Beck to speak to its students (see Glen Beck Preaches Mormon Theology At Liberty University)

The Mormon religion is based on the idea that shortly after the apostles died, the church became apostate - and stayed apostate until Joseph Smith claimed to receive a vision telling his to reestablish the true church.

Either Joseph Smith was telling the truth and all the churches today - including those who send their kids to Liberty University - are apostate and going to hell unless they convert to Mormonism. Or else or Lord Jesus was telling the truth when he said to Peter:

"Thou art Peter and upon this rock (Peter's confession that Jesus was the Christ the Son of the living God) I will build my church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it." (Matthew 16:13-18)

Church history is rife with examples of people who fail to live up to their beliefs. Many of these were (and are!) Christian in name only and Jesus promised he would deal with them on judgment day (See Matthew 7:21-23; Matthew 25:31-46).

But in reference to the article at the beginning of this post, there are still those who are preaching the 'theology of the first century.' Pastor Charles Spurgeon (1834-1892) was one of them. Here is a quote about Pastor Spurgeon:

"Mr. Spurgeon reckoned as the highest compliment ever paid to him the words of an open enemy who said: 'Here is a man who has not moved an inch forward in all his ministry, and at the dose of the nineteenth century is teaching the theology of the first century....'" (source)

Left Behind: "It's a Money Scheme Now, And It's Evil!"

I just watched the new Left Behind move with Nicholas Cage, and I have to admit, I loved it. But there was one thing that was 'left behind' in this movie that was in the first 2 movies: The Gospel!

If you are looking for a good, clean, entertaining movie, this is a good one to watch. But if you want to know more about our Lord Jesus and his gospel, watch the first 2 Left Behind Movies (Left Behind: The Movie and Left Behind: Tribulation Force). Or better yet, listen to Charles Spurgeon's great gospel sermon: Compel Them to Come In

Glen Beck Invokes Joseph Smith, Mormon Beliefs During Liberty University Speech

Glen Beck Invokes Joseph Smith, Mormon Beliefs During Liberty University Speech - christiannews.net

Excerpt from this article:

“'I am Mormon and share your faith,' Beck asserted during his spiritually-mixed charge to students, as he stood in front of a large banner bearing the university’s motto, 'Training Champions for Christ.'"

Apparently, since this article doesn't say the students at Liberty University immediately got up and walked out, they are of the same faith as Glen Beck!

Glenn Beck: Impeach Obama and GOP Stars

Glenn Beck: Impeach Obama and GOP stars:

"Media giant Glenn Beck is now calling for the impeachment of President Barack Obama as well as some of the biggest names in the Republican Party for 'arming known terrorists.' Beck is reacting to a White House announcement Monday that waives part of the Arms Export Control Act to allow 'non-lethal assistance' to rebels in Syria. 'I called today for the very first time in my career … I personally am calling to impeach the president of the United States. This is impeachable. He is arming known terrorists, and people like John McCain should be impeached as well,' Beck said on his broadcast this week."

I have a "love-hate" thing going with Glen Beck (though I've never met the man!). I hate his religion - Mormonism. I not only see it as a cult, but some of its doctrines are highly offensive, even blasphemous, to genuine Christians (See my post: What Do Dr. Tim LaHaye and Glen Beck Have in Common?).

This really should come as no surprise to honest (and informed) Mormons, since their whole religion is based on notion that soon after Jesus' disciples died the church became apostate, and thus existed as a 'cult' for almost 1800 years until Joseph Smith started the Mormon Church in the 1800s. (Check out the podcasts: A Christian View of Mormonism; What Mormons Won't Tell You At The Door).

And while I can't go along with all of Glen Beck's ideas when it comes to politics, I do see eye to eye with him in this realm on a number of issues. In fact, if you were to do a survey of the news stories I link to on my Today in the News feature on this site, you'd probably find that I link to news articles in The Blaze (Glen Beck's Internet news magazine) about 50:1 over even conservative sites like foxnews.com (Although I do like Austin Cunningham's song, The Girls on Fox News!).

So, like I said, I don't like Glen Beck's religious beliefs (and he no doubt would not care for mine either! (see my blog post, What I Believe). But I do like his politics. And I especially like the fact that his news site (the Blaze) covers stories that the liberal press ignores or distorts (For a running chronicle of the news stories the left 'ignores or distorts, checkout Newsbusters.org).

What Do Dr. Tim LaHaye and Glen Beck Have in Common?

I have recommended the Left Behind series (the novels and the books based on them) many times on this site. I usually give a disclaimer, saying that I don't agree with everything in these books/movies. But I like them. They are entertaining. And they do serve a very important purpose: they remind people that our Lord Jesus is going to come back one day.

But something happened yesterday that deeply disturbed me about these books and movies. I was at the library and I saw a novel on the counter titled: Thunder of Heaven: A Joshua Jordan Novel. And in very large print above the title was the name, Tim LaHaye!

I've read most of the Left Behind series (12 novels) as well as the three prequels that were written afterward. And I have watched the Left Behind movies many times (especially the first 2 movies: Left Behind: The Movie and Left Behind 2: Tribulation Force).  So I decided to check this book out.

The first thing I notice about this book was that it was endorsed by Glen Beck. I thought to myself, "Why in the world would Glen Beck be endorsing a book written by Dr. Tim LaHaye. Glen Beck is a Mormon, and the whole Mormon religion is based on the idea that all of the Christian churches became apostate soon after Jesus' disciples died. And it wasn't until Joseph Smith claimed to have a revelation in the early 1800s that the true church (the Mormon church!) was restored again.

But the question that really bothered me was this: Why was Dr. Tim LaHaye having a Mormon endorse his book about the end times? I went to Google and decided to look around. I typed in Tim LaHaye and Glen Beck and found out that Dr. LaHaye had endorsed a novel by Glen Beck on end times in the past! (Source)

There is really only one thing a Christian needs to know about the Mormon religion: "The Mormon God Elohim had sex with Mary." Apparently Dr. LaHaye either does not know this (unlikely!), or he does know it and doesn't care.

4 Major Questions That Remain About the Saudi National Tagged as 212(a)(3)(b), ‘Terrorist Activities’

4 Major Questions That Remain About the Saudi National Tagged as 212(a)(3)(b), ‘Terrorist Activities’ | TheBlaze.com:

"It’s been nearly a week since Glenn Beck first revealed additional information about Abdul Rahman Ali Alharbi, the Saudi national briefly considered a person of interest in the Boston Marathon bombing. According to Blaze sources, Alharbi was tagged as a 212(a)(3)(B) — the U.S. immigration designation for 'terrorist activities.'
In the last week, TheBlaze has learned (among other things) that Alharbi’s event file was altered last Wednesday, two days after the bombings, and the 212(a)(3)(B) designation was removed; that Alharbi was, in fact, placed on a watch list after the attack; that he was at one time listed as 'armed and dangerous'; and that he was not properly vetted before he was allowed into the country under a 'special advisory option.'”
