War Drums: Assad Vows to Strike Israel [Drudge Report]
Syria's Assad 'Confident' in Syria's Civil War - bigstory.ap.org
Going to war to defend America's allies is the right thing to do. Going to war to support one terrorist group over another terrorist group is not (See my post: It's terrorist Against Terrorist in Widening Syrian War). I support using American military might to defend Israel, just as I would be in favor of America defending South Korea in the event they were attacked by North Korea (see my post: North Korea Demands U.S. Withdraw from South Korea).
But I don't in any way trust our current president (or our former president) when it comes to getting America into another war. I agree with the 30% of Americans who believe in some type of a globalist conspiracy to form a "New World Order," (see my post: Special Report: The New World Order is No Conspiracy Theory).

Kudos to Jiroemon Kimura! It is an accomplishment to be the oldest man alive. I only hope he has taken as good care of his soul as he has of his physical body. The late Dr. Martin Lloyd Jones once said, "This life has got to end, and your soul will go on. What, therefore, will happen to you?"
One of the verses in the Bible that has always been of interest to me is Matthew 24:36, where our Lord Jesus says: "This generation shall not pass until all these things have been fulfilled."
I'm pretty sure that this verse primarily referred to the destruction of Jerusalem by the Romans in 70 A.D. But like many Bible prophecies, I also think this has a dual meaning, the second of which has yet to be fulfilled.
Many well meaning Christians have used this verse to try to predict when our Lord would return. Those who see the restoration of the Jewish State in 1948 as a fulfillment of Biblical prophecy have used that date as sort of a clock, speculating that "One Generation" from that date (1948) is when Jesus would return.
I haven't really looked into where Dr. Harold Camping came up with his (false) predictions of our Lord's return in 2011, but I wouldn't be surprised if the year "1948' figured into his calculations. Many have said that the average generation in the Bible was 40 years, and therefore, 40 years from 1948 our Lord Jesus would return. That would have been 1988.
I recall listening to a taped radio broadcasts somewhere around 1990 in which the speaker was urgently calling on his listeners to prepare for the Return of our Lord Jesus in September of 1988 (I think the tape was made a few months prior to that date). The speaker was an accountant who calculated that Jesus would return on Rosh Hashanah (September) of 1988 (You can read his book 88 Reasons Why the Rapture Will Occur in 1988!, by Edgar C. Whisenant)
Our Lord makes it abundantly clear: No man knows the day or the hour of his return (Matthew 24:36). But that date has been set, and just as surely as our Lord Jesus came to earth the first time (as was prophesied in the Old Testament!), he will return again in the future. The Bible says:
"Knowing this first, that in the last days there will come scoffers, walking after their own lusts, and saying, where is the promise of his coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation. For this they are willingly ignorant of, that by the Word of God the heavens were of old and the earth standing out of and in the water: whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: But the heavens and the earth which are now, by the same Word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgement and perdition of ungodly men. But beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness, but is long suffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in the which the heavens shall pass away with great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also, and the works that are therein shall be burned up." (2 Peter 3:3-10)

I haven't really looked into where Dr. Harold Camping came up with his (false) predictions of our Lord's return in 2011, but I wouldn't be surprised if the year "1948' figured into his calculations. Many have said that the average generation in the Bible was 40 years, and therefore, 40 years from 1948 our Lord Jesus would return. That would have been 1988.
I recall listening to a taped radio broadcasts somewhere around 1990 in which the speaker was urgently calling on his listeners to prepare for the Return of our Lord Jesus in September of 1988 (I think the tape was made a few months prior to that date). The speaker was an accountant who calculated that Jesus would return on Rosh Hashanah (September) of 1988 (You can read his book 88 Reasons Why the Rapture Will Occur in 1988!, by Edgar C. Whisenant)
Our Lord makes it abundantly clear: No man knows the day or the hour of his return (Matthew 24:36). But that date has been set, and just as surely as our Lord Jesus came to earth the first time (as was prophesied in the Old Testament!), he will return again in the future. The Bible says:
"Knowing this first, that in the last days there will come scoffers, walking after their own lusts, and saying, where is the promise of his coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation. For this they are willingly ignorant of, that by the Word of God the heavens were of old and the earth standing out of and in the water: whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: But the heavens and the earth which are now, by the same Word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgement and perdition of ungodly men. But beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness, but is long suffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in the which the heavens shall pass away with great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also, and the works that are therein shall be burned up." (2 Peter 3:3-10)

Pope Francis Says Atheists Can Be Good. I Stand Corrected. Sort Of!
On May 22, 2013, the Huffington Post came out with the following article: Pope Francis Says Atheists Who Do Good Are Redeemed, Not Just Catholics. Like many bloggers, Christian and otherwise, I jumped the gun and posted a response to this article right away (see my posts: Pope Francis Says Atheists Can Be Good & Billy Graham, Pope Francis, and The Doctrine of Total Depravity).
The Bible says: "A fool uttereth all his mind, but a wise man keepeth it in until afterwards." - Proverbs 29:11. As it turns out, I probably should have sat on that post for a few days. At least until I listened to Pastor Trevor Hammack's podcast, The Pope Said What? So if I have offended anyone, the Pope or otherwise, I apologize. Well, sort of.
After listening to Pastor Hammack's podcast, I realized that Pope Francis was not teaching that everyone - atheists included - were going to go to heaven. It's a little convoluted, but here is what I think the Pope was trying to say. 1. He believes, like many non-Calvinist Protestants, that our Lord Jesus died for the sins of the whole world. 2. Since Jesus died for everyone's sins, that means everyone has been redeemed. 3. Being redeemed is not the same thing as being "Saved" and only those who are redeemed AND saved will go to heaven. 4. But since atheists have been redeemed, even though they will not go to heaven when they die, they can do good works while they are on this earth.
That is how I understand what the Pope said. Apparently, this was the Pope's attempt to "evangelize" atheist. As one Roman Catholic explained:
"This method of evangelism is no different from the classic method of missionaries from St. Paul onward. We meet the non-believer on his territory, affirm what is good and beautiful about his belief and behavior, and move from there to introduce them to Christ." I guess that is one way to go about evangelizing atheists. I prefer the method used by Dr. David P. Murray: "Without Christ, You're Damned!" (When Government Tries to Be God).

Billy Graham, Pope Francis, and The Doctrine of Total Depravity
Yesterday Pope Francis said that Atheist can be good (see Pope Francis Says Atheists Can Go To Heaven: Sweet Jesus! The College of Cardinals Done Elected a Hippie!) On May 18th, I did a short post titled: "Puff Graham Murray". My goal in that post was to set the gospel and teaching of Billy Graham along side that of Dr. David P. Murray, specifically in Dr. Murray's sermon: When Government Tries to Be God.
As Dr. R. C. Sproul says in Faith Alone: The Evangelical Doctrine of Justification, there is only one true gospel. It is my belief that the gospel preached by Dr. Murray is the same gospel that was preached by our Lord Jesus and his Apostles 2000 years ago. To give you a little insight in where people like Billy (and Franklin) Graham and Pope Francis get their gospels from, please take the time to listen to this very informative message by Rev. "A recent Fox News poll shows more than two-thirds of American voters believe the federal government is “out of control” and a threat to their liberties. Meanwhile, a separate survey commissioned by WND revealed that more than half of the public supports impeaching President Obama for a series of explosive scandals: spying on journalists, IRS targeting of conservative and Tea Party groups, as well as what has become known as “Benghazigate.” Other major scandals such as the administration's Fast and Furious gun-running to cartels, executing Americans without trial, and unconstitutional wars were not addressed in the surveys."
If Obama does get impeached by the United State, my guess is he would be welcomed with open arms - as the next president of the United Nations!

But that didn't make sense because the IRS scandal is a more obvious abuse of power than the White House lying about the murder of four Americans in Libya. What I like best about Ken Ham is that he still accepts the Bible as the final authority on matters of science. Would that all Christians followed his lead. His speech, Six Days and the Eisegesis Problem should be required listening for every student in Bible colleges around the world. For atheists and Christians who are struggling with the theory of evolution, I would recommend the following audio recording:
