Sorry America, We're Not Going Back to the Moon!

Sorry America, We're Not Going Back to the Moon! - forbes.com

Excerpt from this article:

"If you want to accomplish something great, you don't look at the technology you've already developed and ask, 'what can we do with it?' Instead, you must look at the goal you want to achieve and ask, 'what will it take to accomplish this?' You also have to provide funding for it, and plan it on a realistically short timescale."
--------------------------------------

 Recommended sermon:

Moon Madness, by Dr. Ian R. K, Paisley (1926-2014)

This sermon was preached on July 27, 1969 - One week after Apollo 11 landed on the moon.  The text Ecclesiastes 7:29 (Audio):

"Lo, this only have I found, that God hath made man upright; but they have sought out many inventions."

While I recommend you listen to this whole sermon, here are a few quotes:

"It's not the moon we need to reach. It's the God that placed it there."

"There's one of the cartoons...that's utter blasphemy. Man's sitting on the moon with his feet upon the world. 'The heaven is my throne and the earth is my footstool.' That's how far man goes in his blasphemy against God....There's coming a great ruler, and he'll say the same thing: 'I'll sit where God sits!'"

"I know people who sat up half the night to see it, but they never sat up half the night to consider, 'Where will you be in eternity?' What a fool you are!"

"The greatest day in man's history was when Jesus rose from the dead. He brought in a new creation, which shall last longer than the sun and the moon shall endure, and the heavens as we see them today."

Ark Encounter Chief Fires Back at Washington Post's Hit Piece

Ark Encounter Chief Fires Back at Washington Post's Hit Piece - wnd.com

Excerpt from this article:

"Ham visited the Museum of the Bible at the invitation of Cary Summers, president of the museum, who consulted for Answers in Genesis during the design of the Creation Museum and the Ark Encounter. And Ham predicts a bright future for all three attractions. 'I think God will bless all three attractions and their different emphases,' he said. 'Just as we invite atheists and people of other different religions to visit our Ark and Creation Museum, we hope that many non-Christians will tour the MOTB and be exposed to the Bible and its teachings. We are now working with motor coach operators to help create bus tours that will include the MOTB, our two facilities and the fantastic ‘Sight and Sound’ Bible-based musicals in Pennsylvania.'”

Science Confirms Creation

Science Confirms Creation, [pdcast], by Jason Lisle, Ph,D.

"Dr. Lilse leads the Institute for Creation Research's team of scientists who continue to investigate and demonstrate the evidence for Creation. Dr. Lisle graduated Summa Cum Laude from Ohio Wesleyan University, and he double majored in Physics and astronomy. So when they talk about something's not too difficult for rocket scientists, this is what they're talking about...He was instrumental in developing the Planetarium at the Creation Museum in Kentucky..."

This is a great podcast. I've listened to it several times.

Free Kent Hovind!

Jury Deadlocks On Three Of Four Charges Against Incarcerated Evolutionary Foe Kent Hovind - christiannews.net

Excerpt from this article:

"In regard to Hovind’s specific charges, the minister and his wife had made dozens of cash withdrawals of just over $9,000 each over a year’s time, and the government asserted that he was attempting to 'obstruct and impede the due administration of the internal revenue laws.' However, Hovind said that he paid for his ministry expenses in cash and was not seeking to evade any laws as anything over $10,000 was reported as required."
-----------------------------------------------------------

If Kent Hovind were held to the same standard that Bill and Hillary Clinton and President Barack Obama are held to, he never would have seen the inside of a jail, much less a prison!

If it were in my power to do so, I would order the state to release Kent Hovind today, and then ask that he serve as an 'apprentice' under Ken Ham for one year before resuming his fight against those who teach the nonsense of evolution.

The Biblical Noah

Noah's Ark Discovery Raises Flood of Questions - religion.blogs.cnn.com

Excerpt from this article:

"That faint humming sound you’ve heard recently is the scholarly world of the Bible and archaeology abuzz over the discovery of the oldest known Mesopotamian version of the famous Flood story.  A British scholar has found that a 4,000-year-old cuneiform tablet from what is now Iraq contains a story similar to the biblical account of Noah’s Ark."
-------------------------------------------------------------

Ever since I was a kid I have had this wish that one day Noah's Ark would be discovered. I still hope it is discovered in my lifetime, but it won't dampen my faith if it isn't. The Bible says "We live by faith, and not by sight." (2 Corinthians 5:7). No doubt one of the reasons God has kept us from finding Noah's Ark is because he knew people would either worship the ark itself, or break off pieces of it for relics to hang around their necks!

"What though the icy breezes, blow soft o're Ceylon's Isle;
Though every prospect pleases, and only man is vile?
In vain with lavish kindness, the gifts of God are strown,
The heathen in his blindness, bows down to wood and stone!"

Scientists Make Key Big Bang Discovery

Scientists Make Key Big Bang Discovery - newser.com

Excerpt from this article:

"A dizzying scientific achievement: Astronomers have gotten a look back at what one scientist calls 'the beginning of time ... the universe at the very beginning.' That is, they've detected gravitational waves that could be the first direct evidence that within a fraction of a trillionth of a second after the Big Bang, the cosmos began to, in the New York Times' description, 'swell faster than the speed of light for a prodigiously violent instant.'"
--------------------------------------------------------

The Big Bang is a scientific fact: God spoke about 6,000 years ago, and BANG! Everything came into being!  The Bible says:

"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." - Genesis 1:1

Ken Ham Irked by Christian Critics, Bill Nye's Change in Tone

Ken Ham Irked by Christian Critics, Bill Nye's Change in Tone - christianpost.com

Excerpt from this article:

"Creation Museum President and CEO Ken Ham recently found out what Bill Nye 'The Science Guy' really thinks of him when Nye appeared on Bill Maher's 'Real Time' HBO program. But it's not Nye's remarks that are bothering Ham. What Ham is even more irked by is how other Christians have been critical of him following his debate with Nye on creationism. 'What is sad to me is not what Bill Nye thinks about me. What I found really unfortunate is that after presenting my stand on God's Word, there were a number of Christians who were more complimentary of Bill Nye than of me because Bill Nye was defending evolution and billions of years...'"

Pat Robertson Blasts Ken Ham's Young Earth Beliefs: "Let's Not Make a Joke of Ourselves."

Pat Robertson Blasts Ken Ham's Young Earth Beliefs: "Let's Not Make a Joke of Ourselves." - christiannews.net

Excerpt from this article:

"[Robertson said] "So, let’s be real, and let’s not make a joke of ourselves. I don’t believe in so-called evolution as it is currently presented as non-theistic. I believe that God started it all and He’s in charge of it. But the fact that you have the progressive evolution under His control, that doesn’t hurt my faith at all. But this thing [with young earth teachings], we just can’t be playing this.'  But when Ken Ham learned of Robertson’s comments, he posted his own thoughts on Facebook, stating that he found it sad that Robertson was leading his viewers to believe man’s lies over God’s word."
-----------------------------------------

Here is an excerpt from another article, titled: Pat Robertson Repudiates the Gospel:

"This week on his television show Christian broadcaster Pat Robertson said a man would be morally justified to divorce his wife with Alzheimer's disease in order to marry another woman. The dementia-riddled wife is, Robertson said, "not there" anymore. This is more than an embarrassment. This is more than cruelty. This is a repudiation of the gospel of Jesus Christ....Pat Robertson's cruel marriage statement is no anomaly. He and his cohorts have given us for years a prosperity gospel with more in common with an Asherah pole than a cross. They have given us a politicized Christianity that uses churches to "mobilize" voters rather than to stand prophetically outside the power structures as a witness for the gospel."

Fact Check: Did Bill Nye Tell A Huge Lie About the Fossil Layers?

Fact Check: Did Bill Nye Tell A Huge Lie About the Fossil Layers? - thetruthwins.com

Excerpt from this article:

"Did you get a chance to see the debate between Ken Ham and Bill Nye 'the Science Guy' the other night?  It was definitely entertaining.  Unfortunately, it didn’t do much to clarify the issues that millions of Americans tuned in to learn more about.  In fact, viewers got a lot of information from Bill Nye that simply is not true.  For example, Bill Nye made it sound like science has discovered fossil layers all over the earth that are neatly stacked on top of one another with less evolved creatures in the earlier layers and more advanced creatures in the upper layers.  He also made the incredible claim that you cannot find a single fossil which is in the wrong layer.  This is such an elementary mistake, and exhibits such a complete ignorance of what the fossil record actually shows, that he should have been laughed off the stage.  This is exactly the kind of extreme anti-intellectualism that Nye was supposedly trying to warn people about.  Sadly, our society has been so 'dumbed down' that there are lots of people out there that will actually believe him."

Ken Ham Wins Ham/Nye Debate - Hands Down!

I haven't had a chance to watch this debate yet - hopefully I will by this weekend. But I already can say that Ken Ham won. Ken Ham may not have convinced Bill Nye - or anyone else - that God exists and that evolution is a fairy tale. But what he did do was get the gospel broadcasts to millions of people.

It is good to be able to defend creationism to a non-believing world. But it is a mistake to think that you can 'argue someone into becoming a Christian.' And regardless of who 'scored the most points' in this debate, the gospel was heard by people who would not have otherwise heard it. The apostle Paul would pat Ken Ham on the back, and say (my paraphrase of Philippians 1:12): "Brother, the things which happened to you in this debate have fallen out for the furtherance of the gospel!"

The Bible Says:

"So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it."

And one result of this debate is that I have added Ken Ham's Ministry (Answers In Genesis) to my list of organizations I ask my readers to donate to!

Although I would recommend any of Ken Ham's material to my readers, I would especially like to recommend the following:

Creationist Ken Ham Calls Out Atheists for Intolerance, Self-Righteousness

Creationist Ken Ham Calls Out Atheists for Intolerance, Self-Righteousness - christianpost.com

"Ken Ham of Answers in Genesis and the Creation Museum has posted a video of atheist Internet users who are planning on protesting his participation at a homeschool convention in Texas. In a two-hour video chat titled 'Home School Abuse by Creationists,' the atheist members talk about their opposition to Ham's planned speech at the Texas Home School Coalition Convention on Aug. 1–3.  'Every pastor, Christian leader, homeschooler, teenager, Christian parent, and, in fact, all Christians need to see this video chat featuring a number of very intolerant atheists (and some are hateful and angry),' the creationist writes about the video, which he breaks down into separate parts in his blog post to address the various criticism thrown at him."

----

What I like best about Ken Ham is that he still accepts the Bible as the final authority on matters of science. Would that all Christians followed his lead. His speech, Six Days and the Eisegesis Problem should be required listening for every student in Bible colleges around the world. For atheists and Christians who are struggling with the theory of evolution, I would recommend the following audio recording:

Already Compromised - Pastor Kevin Swanson Interviews Ken Ham on the Subject of Christian Colleges

When I was in my late teens my older brother tried to encourage me to go to Bible college. I was working lots of hours on a dairy farm at the time, and I told him that "I'm making too much money to go to Bible college." Then he said those words would come back to haunt me one day.  They did in a big way.

Anyway, while I didn't go to a Christian College, I was able to hold on to my faith - something not every graduate from Christian colleges can say.  Please take some time to listen to Pastor Kevin Swanson's interview with Dr. Ken Ham:
