Reviewer #2: "This book is the autobiography of a young orphan, recruited by the KGB to expose and torture Christians. Converted by their example of love, he defected to Canada and told the truth about communism brutality to the church. For this he was murdered."
To be fair, not everyone is as enthusiastic about this book. Wikipedia points out that since this book was published post-humously (after his murder!), Christians may have done some editing to make things in Russia look worse than they really were.
I've read this book and I believe it was written by Sergei Kourdakov, and what he wrote is factual. I highly recommend this book to everyone around the world, but especially Americans, because what Sergei talks about in this book is rapidly coming to this country!

There are human rights violations that go on in America's prisons, but many of them are committed by the inmates themselves. Supermax prisons don't just protect society from dangerous convicts. They also protect the prison staff and the inmates themselves from many of these same 'dangerous convicts.'
But what is really wrong with America's prison system is that it unfairly targets the poor. Yes, there are the Martha Stewarts who go to prison. But for the most part, people don't go to prison for their crime as much as for their economic standing in society. One of the "Super-Lawyers" O. J. Simpson hired to defend him was Robert Shapiro. Here is some of Mr. Shapiro's advice to Simpson early on in his case:
"You have to hire the best investigators, criminologists, forensic people right now, Shapiro said. You must bring them in immediately and get an independent review of the evidence. I agree that America locks up far too many people. Prisons should be reserved for the worst of the worst of the worst of society. The only people who should ever go to prison are the ones who shake their fists at society and shout: "I will not obey your laws!" Of course, if that were the standard for filling our prisons, we would need to elect some more politicians - starting with the Executive branch on down! Constitutional scholar Mark Levin said:
"You should view these politicians with the deepest contempt you can possibly imagine. What they are doing to this country, what they are doing to our finances - there is not a criminal in any federal prison, state prison, city or county jail with respect to financial crimes of any sort who collectively could have done the kind of damage that Barack Obama and Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi and yes, willing, timid, gutless Republicans have done to this country! To your future, to your children and your grandchildren. What they are doing is with malice and with forethought." (emphasis mine) (source)

A Halloween Costume So Scary it Makes Even the Devil and his Demons Shake with Terror!
I hope no Christian has any plans to celebrate Halloween this year. This is the devil's holiday, and Christians have no business being a part of it (see Halloween or Hallowed Be Thy Name?, by Jason Cooley)
The non-Christians dress their kids up in scary costumes and take them door to door to get free trick or treat candy. But have you ever wondered what kind of a costume - if any - would scare the devil himself? How about dressing up as a giant Bible!
The Bible says:
"The devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire, where the beast and the false prophet are. And he shall be tormented day and night forever and ever." - Revelation 20:10
and also
"Thou believest that there is one God. Thou dost well. The devils also beleive, and tremble." - James 2:19

I'm pretty solid in my Christian beliefs (see my post, What I Believe). I have no problem taking most of the Bible literally. I believe in a literal Adam and Eve, a literal Fall (Genesis 3), a literal Noah's flood, a literal Jonah and the big fish, etc. I believe all the miracles in the Bible. I believe in a literal heaven (for those who love and trust our Lord Jesus) and a literal hell (for those who hate our Lord and serve his adversary, the devil!). And of course I believe in a literal virgin birth, death, and resurrection, and future second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
But I admit that when it comes to Bible prophecy, specifically the books of Daniel, Revelation, and say Matthew 24, I "see things through a glass darkly!" (1 Corinthians 13:12). I guess I lean toward the amillennial position, but that could change as we get closer to our Lord's return.
I've read most of the Left Behind novels (including the three prequels!), and I've watched the Left Behind movies (many times!). And while I found them entertaining, I'm not so sure they are true to the scriptures:
Having said that, I still can't help but recommend these movies to my readers:

I'm pretty solid in my Christian beliefs (see my post, What I Believe). I have no problem taking most of the Bible literally.
